Arden House

Lovely stay. The room was perfect, and the breakfast was lovely. Lucie was lovely, and very attentive. The property is in an ideal spot, it helped make my trip to the area truly wonderful.

Good location with nice surroundings for a walk. Great service from the host and good breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

We had an absolutely lovely stay in Arden House and desperately wish we could have stayed for more than one night! Lucie was very kind and prompt in communicating with us (especially when we asked if we could park there outside of the check-in hours) and the room amenities showed so much care. We walked in and knew we were well taken care of. On top of this, the location is excellent and has gorgeous views of the castle while walking across the river.

Lovely hotel; really enjoyed our stay. The room was excellent and had everything you could need. The breakfast was great and the hotel is well placed to enjoy the town, the castle and within easy reach of the cricket ground. Would definitely visit again.

Home from home feel

Even before I arrived I felt very welcome by the owner, Lucie, with her excellent communication through the booking.com app. The things I loved most about my stay is how intimate the property is, and how it feels like an "old school" B & B where you are welcome and not just another anonymous guest. Lucie is so warm and friendly and it is clear that she takes a lot of pride in Arden House. I prefer engaging with people at smaller establishments like this and Lucie was lovely to converse with. I noticed some other guests preferred more of a hands-off approach and she was extremely respectful of their engagement level. The room was super cute and I felt like I was in a bedroom rather than a hotel room (this was a good thing for me). Everything was absolutely spotless and there were very delicious biscuits! The bed and linens were excellent. Since I was travelling on my own, I booked a room with a shower, toilet and basin down the hall (there was a basin in my room as well) and there was a note on the bathroom door stating that it was for my room specifically. It felt very private and did not pose an inconvenience for me to walk a short distance away to access it. I did not originally purchase the breakfast, but at the last minute decided to do so. I'm so happy I did because Lucie makes a really great breakfast and I also had an opportunity to meet two other couples. I would stay with Lucie again in a heartbeat! P.S.
