The Red House

Host is extremely nice and kind family. Highly recommended to stay here. Good location too close proximity to Seoraksan. This is the best accommodation we stayed over the years. Would definitely stay again if have another chance to visit Sokcho.

The room was a little dark, but since I spent most of my time in the national park, this was not really a problem.

We felt very welcome at The Red House. The room was clean and comfortable. Although it is only one street away from the main road it was lovely and quiet. The family who run the hotel are very friendly and accommodating. During a busy Autumn weekend, being able to walk to and from the National Park, past the long traffic jams, was a definite advantage.

I booked the Red House because of how close it is to the park. It was about 5 minutes with the bus (when there’s no traffic, early morning/late evening) and 35ish minutes walking. The homestay hosts were incredibly kind, the room was simple. I had some issues with my roommate the first night, but that just is a risk when going for dormitories.

I couldn’t get the window to open, so the room was very stuffy with no circulation.

The staff are warm and helpful. The location near the park entrance (1 bus stop or 20 minute walk) is very convenient. Food options are limited but present within a bus stop in either direction. There is a good fried chicken place to the east one stop. Two convenience stores within walking distance (the GS25 is larger and a little further).

The inn is dated, but not unpleasant. The bed had plastic protective layer under the sheet that resulted in low breathability and reduced comfort. There are abandoned buildings in the immediate area, but no safety concerns.

Such friendly hosts and have really good advice about walks in the past. Let us do some washing as well :)

Heated floors made for hot rooms at night. Would be great in the middle of winter though !
