Mabel's House

Our room was not ready upon arrival (construction was still being completed in our reserved room). We were not alerted to this. Staff moved us to another room, but the AC was VERY loud.

The suite was very spacious, clean and comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch. The beds were very comfortable. Mabel’s Lobster next door had great food and drinks. It’s small and was very busy but we didn’t wait long. The staff were very helpful, friendly and very responsive. Parking is limited but the staff responded right away so we were able to get into a spot reserved for guests. Great spot for a lovely weekend in Kennebunkport!

We didn’t have clear directions on where our room was, so we just found a door labeled ‘suite’ and tried it. Turns out it was the only one so we guessed correctly.

There was no way to control the temperature on the AC. It was pre programmed and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to lower the temperature as it was pretty cold with no success. I finally shut off the unit which eventually made the room too warm. In the middle of the night the program kicked in again so I just put up with an uncomfortable temperature.

Pros: easy walk to the beach, dining options around the area, walkable to town for some which we liked. Safe area. Good sized room. Cons: nonexistent staff, no welcome, nothing they are all across the street at the breakwater. Room 42 is extremely noisy. Ice machine that the kitchen staff use for breakfast begins at 6:45 am. Doors slamming, ice being filled and broken every 5 mins. So if you don’t need to sleep past 6:45am… by all means. Not sure about other rooms. But that was not ok. Exterior of property, great porch and chairs to relax in until dusk when Mosquitos hit. But that’s nature but nothing to stop the bugs. King size bed was not comfortable. If you are over 30, bring Advil for your back. Wouldn’t stay there again but would stay near there.

Location, quiet area but close to all

We were the only guests staying there. Self check-in was fine. A lot of activity by workmen swapping a/c units, assembling furniture.etc. Couldn’t help but feel this is not relaxing…No coffee in the morning. One chair in the room, so if we both wanted to sit, we had to go outside on the porch during down time. This our second visit, first time was great. Give a hoot factor this time was zero. Way too pricey for preseason, many better options.

Clean and convenient. Bed, pillows and linen good.

No hooks to hang bath towels after using. Only 1minute towel rack for 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels. No glass in unit for water or rinsing mouth. No coffee or tea in room and only flavoured coffee downstairs. No bottled water for guests. Light from passage illuminates under and on sides of bedroom door. Also was under impression from Booking.com and reviews that a continental breakfast was supplied? Overall expensive for what we experienced.
