"not my destination chain anymore"

the staff was helpful

slow check in. the restaurant wasn't open on Sunday (per location, NOT CM) nor was it open for bkfst. NOT for the solo business traveller anymore!! The room smelled like urine and was small and cramped.

The room was clean.

Noisy. We could hear people in the hallway and upstairs. Our room was right next to the side door entrance. We could hear the clicking of the lock every time someone entered. Was not very pleasant at 5am!

The Courtyard is perfect to walk in a quiet area . Go to Mi Mexico only 5 minute walk and get your Margarita on the Cabana

The bed was halfway comfortable but the pillows were not. We knew there was no complimentary breakfast but really missed it! The pool area was very clean and comfortable.

I originally booked at the Courtyard by Marriott Des Moines West Clive because I was looking for a nice hotel with a bar and restaurant. The Marriott website and Expedia both advertise a bar and restaurant with statements such as this: “Stop by in the evening for delicious dinner options and handcrafted cocktails.” There is a bar and restaurant only it is not open and no one is working there. The room was nice enough but there are a number of places I could have booked that actually have a bar and restaurant.

"Theft by a hotel…"

My father had to be taken to the emergency room and we were unable to travel. This hotel would not give my money back. Things are tight right now especially since he is in the hospital again. I can’t believe a hotel would do this. They make enough money from people staying in hotels why do you need to take money from people that cannot stay due to horrible circumstances. I could never recommend this hotel due to this experience. Hope it doesn’t happen to you. Matt Hood. The assistant manager thinks it’s okay to steal money.

"Comfortable stay in Clive"

Pretty standard Courtyard. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Pleasant front desk associates. Quick check-in. Some moisture issues in the bathroom - peeling wallpaper and paint. Bath mat was kind of threadbare. Have stayed here several times since it’s easy to get to and close to some friends in the area.
