Oneida Community Mansion House

If you love history and are interested in unique architecture then this is a wonderful opportunity to indulge both passions. The facility is in great condition.

The history. There were walking paths to see the property. Loved the library.

Interesting history. It was cold in night and didnt know how to work the rads. I did plug electric heater in and it helped. Breakfast was good

We had a Wonderful time. Staff was great. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.

If you are looking for a charming, interesting, and perhaps odd hotel, this is a great place. We were on a college trip, and I didn't want a standard, cookie-cutter hotel room. I knew a bit about the Oneida utopian community, and I assumed this was a converted mansion and would feel like a hotel or B&B, but this is a combination museum/apartment complex with a few hotel rooms. You can clearly see and feel that this was a utopian community (let's be honest - we would call this a cult today.) As a guest, I could visit the museum for free, and it was fascinating. Meeting rooms, the library, museum rooms, etc. are all open to see. The library is open all night and is filled with a variety of books. Our room had two beds, wildly tall windows, and a nice, huge bathroom. It definitely feels unique but also comfortable. I can't remember if there was a TV, but they leave a book for you to take home by someone who grew up in the community and ended up running the Oneida utensil company. Parking was easy, and you are in the middle of a lovely, safe, suburban area. The hotel is near the town that the Oneida company started, so you could also drive through there if you are interested in the company/community history. The staff are very nice and helpful and called to confirm my reservation. They also have a cute, tiny store where my daughter bought some jewelry made from Oneida utensils. We ate at a restaurant a 10 min drive away.

Love the atmosphere and history

The breakfast could be a bit better. The continental breakfast is a bit challenging. Also didnt like the visit by a bat on the premises.

Room and bathroom lmuch larger than expected and certainly more ch larger than a regular hotel room. Very quiet and comfortable. Moreover a historical site.

Clean and unique property in a nice location

We booked on Booking.com room with breakfast included stating it is excellent. There was no breakfast. When brought up with management they stated there is only complimentary breakfast. What is offered, cannot be considered breakfast. We mentioned that our booking includes and excellent breakfast. They responded that they are not responsible for a third party. And that was that.

Do wish the breakfast had a little more variety for baked goods and drinks.

The property is quirky. Interesting history. Especially if your family is from the area and you had no idea what “community”. meant. Bed is very comfortable. Bathrooms roomie. Historical room rooms in the house were spending time at.

If you sleep in, breakfast might run out, but the coffee is good.
