"Clean and comfortable"

8.0

I stayed at the Hotel Di Torlaschi for a week and it was perfect for the needs of three adults (two parents and adult daughter). We stayed in one of the cabanas with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and living area. Pros: - clean! The cabana and furniture showed age, but were spotless - friendly staff who went out of their way to assist us on more than one occasion - location - 5-10 minute walk to the plaza, market, and grocery store - breakfast - simple, but always fresh and plenty of it - atmosphere - lots of flowers and the premises kept tidy - space - lots of space for 3 people - cost - very reasonable - beds - comfortable! Cons: - thin walls - every night I could hear somebody in the next cabana snoring. It didn't, however, keep me up and it became a joke to try and spot "Cinco" at breakfast every morning. - furniture - the couch was practically unusable. Any time somebody tried to sit on it, the couch would attempt to deposit him or her on the floor. There was one armchair that was ok to sit on, and the kitchen table and bench were just fine. It wasn't that big a deal as we didn't spend too much time in the cabana, but if I were to stay for a longer period of time, it would annoy me that there wasn't a decent couch to sit on. - wireless - it existed, but it was unreliable. If I'd had to work from the cabana, I would have been extremely frustrated. All in all, I'd certainly stay again!

"good value for money"

8.0

we did the reservation from Britain via email. I think it was the only hotel which accepted a reservation only via mail, on the busiest time of the year: the last night of the "semana valdiviana" and that was the reason we took it. It didn't look that nice on the pictures, but is not bad. The receptionist was very friendly. We stayed in the cabin next to the road so it was a bit noisy specially that night with all the people walking till late at night. The breakfast was the typical Chilean hotel breakfast: white bread with jam, nescafe and squash. Some cornflakes and strawberry yoghurt. But really good value for the money, I mean, I thought it was cheap. The beds were comfortable and the distribution of the place it felt like staying on somebodys house: two floor cabin, with on suite master bedroom, plus another room and toilet and small kitchen. The only problem was next morning to try to get the car out! You need to have good skills to not wreck somebody else's car or try to leave later and not be the first one!

"Best thing about this hotel is proximity to Ultimate Frontier cafe"

6.0

We spent four nights there, mainly in the matrimonial room, 207. This place had clean, albeit very dated interior. Staff were friendly. Continental breakfast was sufficient. Lost power one morning, but so did the rest of the city. Shorted us a towel one day, but I'm sure it was an oversight. The big error was that 207 had no insulation or heat from our radiators, and it was cold outside. Thankfully, the layers of bedding make for a cozy enough sleep. I asked the reception about the radiators on the first night and was told the radiators came in later in the eve. The third night we discussed it again, with two different staff members, who assured us they would bring us a small electric heater. Nothing happened. On the fourth afternoon, we got a call from reception wih another offer for a heater or to switch rooms. We chose the latter and were moved to a matrimonial cabin with a radiator and electric heater. Thw gentleman apologized, saying had he known he would have moved us sooner. Sounds like a communication problem between staff. Much improved sleep that last night. They helped insure our airport transfer, which was very nice.

"Good hotel for the price"

6.0

We stayed at the Di Torlaschi between August 18 and 20. For an average hotel (this is a three stars hotel) I was surprised it was quite homelike.. We stayed at one of the cabins, which can comfortably accommodate three people (and up to 4 or five). We were three adults: two sharing a twin-beds room and the other one in a queen room. This cabin has a living room with cable TV, (also the two bedrooms have cable tv) a nice dinning room and a kitchen which was equipped with microwave, refrigerator, stove, and all that is necessary if you want to cook your own meals.. Given that only the buffet breakfast is included in the price, this was quite convenient if we wanted to eat dinner at the cabin and save some money.. The cabin was very well cleaned, the beds were also very clean and the water in the shower very hot, so, for the the economic price we paid for the cabin, we had everything we needed: clean beds, hot water and cable TV, and last but not least, complimentary wifi!! The breakfast buffet was well enough to get started.. Mainly scramble eggs, toasts, fruits, cereal, juice, tea, milk, and coffee (although instant coffee, this was sad since I am very font of grain coffee) and if you like sweet food, there was cake and lemon pie.. The location of the hotel was great: only one block away you have the "Entrelagos" chocolate store and restaurant, a nice place to have a good cup of coffee or hot chocolate.. next to it there is the chocolate store where you can buy the chocolates made by them.. from this place, another block or two, you can find the main square with a catholic church and next to this church, there is a nice walk to the "feria municipal" where you can buy local crafts.. in front if this there is the river with boats if you want to take a tour through the river.. Overall, if you are in a budget and don´t need a luxurious place, and want some comfortable and cozy place to stay in, close to major attractions though a walking distance, this is the place for you.

"An excellent option in Valdivia"

10.0

I go to Valdivia pretty frequently and often struggle to find a clean, central place to stay. Di Torlaschi is walking distance to the center, fish market, and even the casino and university. The hotel has regular hotel rooms and apartments. We stayed in a 2-story apartment-- 4 adults, a teenager and our dog. Plenty of space, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, secure parking, very clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful. We definitely will stay here on our next trip to Valdivia.

"A place to stay"

6.0

During business visits, I had the pleasure to come to Valdivia. After a long busiy day, we arrived at about midnight at the Di Torlaschi; the check-in process took some time - everything is still very old-fashioned here. The hotel is already a few years old and provides some small parking lots within its area. The room was large; unfortunately the flor of the entire room had carpet. Windows to open - great. But it was cold outside... The breakfast buffet was very limited - nothing exciting at all and not a place to fill energy for the rest of the day.. As we only stayed here for one night - it was OK; excellent value for money!!!

"This is where the locals stay!"

8.0

Hotel di Torlascchi has rooms in a main building along with a number of cottage apartments, each of which has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen/dining/living room. We stayed in a cottage apartment with our 2 teenagers for about the price of two hotel rooms and enjoyed the privacy it gave us. Plus with 2 TV's, there were no conflicts in that area either. The decor is from the 1970's but beds are comfortable and bathrooms are adequate. Breakfast is included. The hotel is located one block from the water and about 6 small blocks from the fish market and bridge to the university. In December the garden patches are full of color.
