Quinta Da Comporta - Wellness Boutique Resort

Smelly, overpriced & uncaring - those are the 3 words we’d use to define Quinta Da Comporta after our 3 night stay here. We have stayed at tens of wellness properties across the world. This is the first time we left wishing we had never booked. 1. Our room smelled of sewage. We were in their top category room (suite). It reeked of sewage from the moment we walked in, for our first two nights, no relief. We complained. A staff member came, sprayed room freshener, and left. The result was sewage plus chemicals, somehow worse. We had to go directly to the General Manager to be heard - who then transferred us to a new room, but that too smelled of very strong chemical room freshener - making it difficult to even inhale comfortably. While we complained about this issue to the reception staff - there was no apology from them. It felt like they couldn’t care less. For a property charging top tier prices, that level of carelessness is unacceptable. 2. This is not a wellness place. It just calls itself one. Having a gym and a spa does not make you a wellness destination. Wellness is warmth, care, intention, atmosphere. None of that was present here. What made it worse is that the website paints a picture of a rich, activity filled experience, dolphin cruises, horseback riding on the beach, and more. When we arrived and asked, we found out every single one of these is run by external companies with no connection to the property. They are just things available in the Comporta area. The hotel has simply listed them on their website to look more appealing. That is misleading, and it shaped our decision to book. We consider that false advertising. 3. Everything is overpriced. Nothing felt justified. A 50 minute massage costs €200. Yoga and Pilates are charged separately on top of an already expensive room rate. The boutique sells basic clothing for €300, €500, €600. We follow a plant based diet and while a few kitchen staff were genuinely helpful, others were indifferent to the point of being careless. One server confidently told us a bread contained egg without checking. When she actually asked the chef, there was none. She came back and informed us as if nothing had happened. No acknowledgment, no apology. The pool is good. The gym is good. The interiors of the place are good. The food is tasty. But none of that saves a place where the hospitality is cold, the marketing is misleading, the pricing has no grounding in actual value, and a guest in their best room cannot breathe without smelling sewage. We have stayed at far warmer, far more genuine wellness places at a fraction of the cost. This place is not wellness. It is wealth signaling without the substance to back it up. Would recommend no one to spend their money here.

Was nervous after seeing some of the reviews. There was no need to be. We were in the area to play the new impressive golf courses of Dunas and Torres. We found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful. At times in the restaurant there was a delay for something through lack of organisation but never too long and always a smile. Breakfast was lovely and the cooked to order eggs and bacon/mushroom/tomatoes always lovely. Are in the restaurant twice for dinner and both nights lovely. Spa is excellent. Our room was spacious and relaxing with sunbeds in the outdoor terrace. House keeping spot on and everything in your room you would expect in a hotel of this standard. Unbelievably peaceful. Very relaxing. Very pleased and happy with our visit. Had lunch at two of the beach restaurants which were both superb.

L'emplacement est bien et le personnel est sympatique.

- On a passé 3 jours entourés de travaux de peintures et de rafraichissement ! - Les installations du SPA ne sont pas à la hauteur de l'établissement, les bains à remous ne fonctionnent pas ! Certaines installations ont besoin d'entretien.... Les soins de SPA (massages) sont totalement hors de prix et là aussi pas à la hauteur du tout d'un SPA de Luxe ! On a du se battre pour avoir un slip jetable. - Entre l'accueil et la piscine, l'immense esplanade est tout à refaire en travaux, attention aux chevilles. - Le petit déjeuner peut vraiment mieux faire. - Donc on a le Wouah d'instagram lorsque l'on arrive mais il faut pas regarder dans les détails.... - Le patron qui avait l'air Français était à nos côtés lors du séjour et on avait qu'une seule envie c'est de lui passer notre listes d'amélioration ;-) car elle est encore bien longue.
