Pensión San Jorge

The room and bed was comfortable. All I needed while walking the Camino. The homemade yogurt and jellies at Hotel Las Indianas, where you check in, was delicious.

You have to Check in at Hotel Las Indianas. They send you a link via WhatsApp to the Google map location. This location was wrong and I walked around for 15 minutes, after walking around all day on the Camino, to find the hotel. This was unfortunate after a long day. Especially when they could have simply sent a photo of the hotel as well. The hotel is a white and black with giant“SJ” with Hotel Las Indianas written very small below this. Very easy to solve.

Accomodation is right on the Camino del Norte trail. It is not the Pension San Jorge you pass as you are first entering the town (the place you are staying doesn't really have signage outside). Check in is at Hotel Las Indianas which is a block away. You can get your credential stamped there too. I used the correos luggage transfer service to/from and that went well (although it is delivered to/from Hotel Las Indianas and you carry it a block to where you will be staying). Wifi worked well. Body wash/shampoo provided in shower. They had a jug in the foyer outside your room and some tea bags provided. Twin bedroom was quite spacious, bathroom quite spacious too. Neighborhood seemed safe - it's a quiet little town.

No TV remote (staff were prompt to look for a replacement and did offer to change me to a new room when one couldn't be found but I didn't bother changing). Decore was a bit run down. Tap in bathroom hand basin leaked and a few bathroom fittings rusty. Floor needed a clean. Good that they provided spare blankets but they werent very clean. There was a dog upstairs that ran across a non carpeted floor through the night, it initially sounded like rats in the roof until I figured out what it was. Could hear it's paws scratching on the floor. Not much in Nueva (a few restaurants and supermarkets etc but not really any sights). Takes about 3hrs to hike on from Nueva to Ribadesella on camino.

Comfortable room

Check in was a complete shambles - arrived at the pension and found it closed Phoned and advised to check in at a nearby hotel with a different name. Advised my room was in another location - went there, only to find that my room was in yet another location! That staff member was finally helpful - all of the others were unhelpful and did not care In the bathroom, the tap on the washbasin was leaking badly when the tap turned on, the toilet paper had not been replaced since the last guest and the hot water was not particularly hot. Some animals inside the building noisy for several hours of the night.

Bed was not comfortable and moved on the floor. Room was quite noisy Most disappointing place I’ve stayed on my trip

Convenience, cleanliness.

Awkward and confusing process to pick up my key. First, there was a Pension San Jorge sign at a private home, but it was not the lodging. A woman told me to go to the Las Indiana's hotel in town. Once there, the receptionist gave me a key with instructions to go to a third property, which was the actual pension. Odd!

Great stay. Highly recommended. Comfortable beds. Nice room. The receptionist (who speaks English and German) went way beyond her duty to find us some essentials in town after we messed up our backpack transfer on the Camino. We stayed during a Spanish holiday. Very resourceful person and she saved the day.

Nothing

There is hotel breakfast nextdoor and multiple premium restaurants close by. It's easy to overlook options for cidre and wine. Oceanfront pilates, meditation, chi gong, tai chi, yoga, etc is very spectacular.

There are two guest houses. The hotel staff will guide you right.
