Isla Bank House

From the initial booking Vena and Nick connected and were very helpful regarding our stay and request to store our bikes. Even on our arrival day we received a text to say looking forward to us staying. That personal touch is something that makes a guest feel special. The house is fabulous, steeped in history and the facilities were luxurious yet retained the character of the building. As a keen gardener it was a joy to be shown around the walled garden, where Nick and Vena grow a variety of fruits and vegetables to use in their seasonal fare. The cottage garden and grounds are also a pleasure to stroll around.

Vena and Nick were great hosts. The food was wonderful, and their attention to detail and our comfort was superior to the other hotels we stayed at in Scotland. We could not believe the size of the room and bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfortable. They really go above and beyond to make sure your stay is wonderful. It's great to see their restoration of the residence. We would definitely come again, only this time we would use Isla Bank as our home base for scotch tastings.

The house is full of character, and the suites are lovely, cold but lovely

I felt that more consideration could have been made to ensure that the rooms were actually warm? In the bedroom, the one radiator gave very little heat. However, there was an electrical fan heater, which warmed the room up a little bit. No coffee or tea making facilities in the rooms, but a kettle with a very small amount of coffee, milk, sugar, and 5 tea tea bags were available outside on the landing. We were a party of 3, and there was another couple staying as well, so needless to say, it all vanished very quickly and wasn't restocked by the time we checked out in the morning. We also chose to dine in and had to preorder our evening meal using the website, but had we known that we were going to have to wear warm jackets eating our expensive burgers and a beer, we would have gone to a local pub. Breakfast in the morning was delicious (again preordered online), however, once again, we were wrapped up like Eskimos.

We stayed here for 2 days during a 2-week visit to Scotland. This was the most serene, quiet place we stayed. If you are looking to unwind and relax, stay here! The wood stove heating in the dining room was a great touch on the cold days that we stayed there.

Dinner menu is international, but for this setting we thought a couple of traditional Scottish dinner items would have been nice to choose from. Shower facilities could be better - would be nice to have more modern shower, better shower ventilation, and a drying rack.

We loved the place. We make it a practice to read reviews about a place as well as the place's own notes/terms/conditions so we knew what to expect, but the place and the hosts pleasantly exceeded our expectations. Our room (Isla Suite) was very charming, comfortable, and relaxing. The place was very quiet. The beds were amazing. We appreciated the bonus drams of whiskey waiting in our room upon check in. The servings of breakfast and dinner were always a lot (we couldn't even finish them) and very tasty. We also appreciated a lot the bathrobes/coats (?) provided which we imagine are really helpful for guests who get cold easily (like us). The location was really convenient also for our travel purpose--i.e., a distillery tour and distillery reserve tasting at Strathisla Distillery. Thank you Nick and Vena for having us!

Isla Bank House is magnificent, beautifully restored, very welcoming lovely hosts. opposite the distillery and only a short walk to Keith centre.

Stunning house in spacious grounds. The rooms are huge and very well appointed. You’ll feel to the manor born staying here. Nick & Vena are the perfect hosts.
