Ryokan Tamura

Ryokan is traditional w Japanese style service. The large room w private bath was actually very nice.

Ryokan is getting dated, food was average and they did not serve children which was unusual.

Great place to feel the traditional Japanese Ryokan vibe. We really enjoyed this hotel and definitely will come visit again in the future. The dinner and breakfast was perfect! Thank you so much for!

The hotel is very caring, but didn't have chance to live since the bus time is very limited in karuizawa. Please check the bus information very carefully. Sometimes transportation information is too detailed in JP which will result in misleading.

My stay at Ryokan Tamura in Kusatsu was truly exceptional. The private onsen bathroom added a luxurious touch to the traditional ryokan experience. The private onsen was a serene oasis, allowing for a relaxing soak in the mineral-rich waters with complete privacy. The staff's attention to detail and hospitality were remarkable, enhancing the overall stay. The kaiseki dinner served was a culinary delight, showcasing the finest local ingredients. Ryokan Tamura is a perfect choice for those seeking a tranquil and culturally enriching getaway.

This is an old-school Ryokan with exceptionally friendly staff who bent over backwards to help me. Having stayed in a few Ryokan-style inns on my trip, Tamura was by fat the best. With a lovely room, traditional robes provided and beautiful lavish meals which were served in the room in the floor below while my room was made up for sleeping. Breakfast and dinner including a variety of meat, fish and vegetable dishes and even shabu shabu which I'd always wanted to try. After making a friend in town I invited them back to share my dinner with me and the hotel provided extra food and amenities at no extra cost.

I have enormous western feet, which were no match for the petite slippers offered by the hotel. There was also intermittent Wifi which, in the periods spent in my room would have come in handy. However, the staff were lovely and I'm sure - had I bothered them - they would have been happy to assist.

The food was good and delicious. Owner was helpful and speaks English enough . The water of the onsen is of good quality too. And having individual bath is good too
