The host was a wonderful nice woman, we had breakfast together and really enjoyed the visit, love the puppies too

It was in a convenient quiet street with off street parking. The room was very nice with a view over a lovely garden. It was a little small. The bed was comfortable. There was everything you could have wanted in the room - tea and coffee making, chocolates, biscuits, fruit. The bathroom was lovely with a giant bath and again all sorts of soaps and lotions. Plenty of hot water in a lovely shower. The breakfast was as good as we have ever had at a B&B. The hostess was very friendly and informative. She gave us good recommendations for dinner restaurants in walking distance and timing to catch the ferry in the morning.

This is not really a “did not like” but be aware that you will be the only guests in what is a private home. The hostess lives alone with 2 small dogs and a cat. You need to go up a small flight of stairs to the entrance. The only thing we didn’t like was the synthetic sheets on the bed. They felt quite slippery. Otherwise it was perfect.

The house was cozy with a lovely backyard garden. Anthea was friendly and welcoming. And she provided an amazing breakfast.

The bed was a bit hard for me.

This was my second year staying at Campbell Cottage before setting out on a backpacking expedition, and I enjoyed my stay just as much as last year! Anthea is a wonderful host, and Bella, Daisy (dogs) and Stella (cat) are all sweet animal companions. The guest room and bathroom are clean, comfortable, and perfect for a solo traveller like me or for a pair sharing a bed. The bed is super comfy and the room is always just the right temperature. The backyard is a great spot to hang out and enjoy a drink; it features a gorgeous garden, comfy furtniture, and some cute chickens. Anthea makes great breakfasts! I had fresh fruit, bread with marmalade and peanut butter, and yogurt and granola every day, plus freshly brewed espresso. This is my favourite place to stay in Nanaimo and I would definitely stay again.

There's nothing I don't like about this accommodation. Both times I stayed, I had everything I needed and then some, and was treated with great care by the excellent host. Make sure you read the full details about the accommodation!! This is a true bed and breakfast, not a laissez-faire AirBnB. It's a great spot for animal lovers and gregarious solo travellers.

Pre-arrival - We wanted to extend our stay by an extra night but the room we had booked was not available, so Anthea opened up her other room for us to book on booking.com and let us swap with no cancellation fees, which was really appreciated. Anthea was such a lovely host and let us know about a food festival that was happening in downtown. Breakfast was lovely with eggs made to order. The dogs may have been my personal favourite touch and made me feel very at home. Not the place to stay if you don't like dogs or their hairs, but we loved the dogs! Location was fantastic and was an easy stroll into downtown.

Just something to be aware of, the door to the bathroom upstairs isn't an actual door, but a sliding screen, so offers no soundproofing. This wasn't really an issue as there was no one upstairs but us and Anthea when she was sleeping. This was our private bathroom, but not en suite. Not an issue for us, but I can imagine the sliding screen door could make some people feel awkward.

The host is awesome. We felt like at home. Liked place very much.

Nice B&B located in a good location just blocks away from the Old City Quarter and great restaurants. Anthea was an amazing host and provided recommendations on restaurants and local attractions. Breakfast was great with fresh eggs. Highly recommend Campbell Cottage B&B for a stay in Nanaimo.
