Seven Gables Inn, St Louis West, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner. The swordfish was as good as any good steak I’ve ever had. Coconut shrimp and mini beef Wellington were a delight for our starters. We went on a week night so it wasn’t very busy. Server was very attentive but not over bearing. Rooms were spacious, clean and ver well maintained. The toilets have heated seats and bidet’s. Look forward to staying here again.

We were so disappointed with our stay. We were hopeful that the renovated hotel would add another good option in Clayton, but advise to stay away. The rooms themselves are pretty nice and we stayed in a large suite which was renovated in a comfortable manner. Most of the rooms have no view other than a cement wall or dark alley across from a parking garage which puts a damper on the experience. When we were there the restaurant and lounge and room service was close for all three nights for corporate parties, which apparently is common there. Most of the positive reviews are from people who hosted or attended events and parties. Despite being on the 3rd floor the noise from the parties kept us and our son up late with loud base that shook the walls and floor of the old hotel building. The hotel was swarming with party guests who were drunk and roaming the halls. Staff was of no help. It was not safe, quiet or comfortable environment. We were offered by the managers a discount on our stay for the services, but more than 2 weeks after check out were billed for a second stay that never happened that I now have been charged more than the original booking. The hotel is poorly run and treats customers like a piggy bank. It's not a comfortable hotel and the staff is difficult...not recommended.

I arrived for breakfast at 9:53 and was told that breakfast was over even when it officially ended at 10 am.

My room was not made up. I was supposed to put the back of the do not disturb sign on the front of the door if I wanted the bed made and room cleaned. That was not made clear at check in. The pillowed were really uncomfortable and the shower fixture to turn on the water was difficult to use and appeared to be broken.

Reserved a Premium King room for $380/night for 3 nights. First the good: it is a nice-sized room and the furniture appears pretty new. It’s in a great location, walking distance from cute shops and restaurants. However, there is one small window in the room and it is nailed shut and painted over. Same in the bathroom. Apparently there is a building right next to this one. It feels like we are staying in a tomb. There is no natural light, the walls are a dull grey/beige color. Even with all the lights on it isn’t light. While I am sad for this hotel that a building went up next to them, I think that should be included in the room description. In my experience, a “premium” room for $380/ night comes with a window you can see out of. The website says there are chocolates on your pillow every night, but there were no chocolates. The “closet” is a bar across a few inches crammed between some shelves in the corner, divided in two parts horizontally so that you cannot hang a dress. Walls are scuffed, and in the bathroom there are chunks of wall peeling off. There is an annoying tv in the mirror over the sink so that you have to stand off to one side to see in the mirror - I don’t know who needs to watch tv so badly. They should tell you if your room won’t have windows, and they should tell you that there is only housekeeping after three days. If I had known that was what I was getting for $380/night I would have simply booked somewhere else and wouldn’t feel the need to write this review.

Nice little property, close to our favorite restaurant, Tony’s. Staff were friendly rooms were clean and the wife loved the bidet. Not much of a view but only 3 stories, mostly enjoyed the old feel of the gables while still being modern.. z

Quaint hotel recently became a Marriott. Newly redone rooms. Bathroom very nice shower wasn’t very clean and shower head was loose and had no pressure. Best was the friendly staff live music in lobby bar. Big doors open to street with covered outdoor seating

Friendly staff in bar and restaurant. Breakfast was a joke, no silverware and no personal to be found. The whole place needs a big more professional service
