Sheraton Suites Fort Lauderdale West

The hotel itself is decent, the suites are large and well furnished, the product itself is very good and in a great location. The major problem with this hotel is how it is managed and set up. For example, if you’re a high status member with bonvoy you get breakfast in the exec lounge which is nice but when you get there there is no breakfast setup, just a buffet and coffee served in paper take away cups, no napkins just paper towels and no table cutlery… but if you go the main dining (which you have to on Sunday as the exec lounge is closed) then you have a much nicer table set up but then you have to e to pay for a latte as it’s not included but it is in the exec lounge. So your higher membership repeat guests do get a lounge but get worse set up? Odd approach… I sent laundry on the weekend and was promised it would be back on Monday evening, when I returned from work on Monday at 17:30hrs the room had not been made up and no laundry, I called for the room to be made up and I was made to feel I was being a demanding guest on the phone… like how dare I want my room cleaned and fresh towels and water! Then as it got closer to 9pm I still didn’t get laundry so I called and was told that my laundry was found by the afternoon shift on Monday and sent and sorry it wouldn’t be back until 11am the next day… I start work at 0900 and had no shirts or underwear, when I pointed this out I was told I could go to cvs and buy some! Why no one thought to tell me proactively so I had time to do something like go to a mall is a mystery… if they found it and knew they’d made a mistake then surely call the guest and apologise and try to make it right? I asked the front office manager to call me the following day but of course they did not… and yes my phone was working as I had many calls that day. All in all the leadership/culture at the hotel is where it fails, not the hotel itself, which clearly can be fixed and if I was the owner I would be asking some hard questions about the service standards.

We landed in Miami and were heading to Orlando. We were looking for a suite that could accommodate 5 people and a baby in a good location near the outlets—this place was definitely an excellent choice.
