"Good Choice for Pasadena"

Very fine structure with an affluent vibe. “Club” amenities nice, and staff were friendly.

Room was slightly small and bathroom too basic for 5-star. Felt cheated at the in-house fine-dining restaurant, The Royce. (See separate review of that in Google Maps.)

"Fantastic luxury hotel and even better service!"

My wife and I stayed here with our two young kids. The hotel and grounds are all fantastic. We had a premiere room, and it was huge with plenty of space for the 4 of us. The hotel staff was top notch at every level. Front desk, room service, valet, etc. We had a wonderful stay, and look forward to coming back!

"Property Getting by on Reputation."

We had numerous issues at this property that I won't go into, but suffice it to say that this is definitely not deserving of its 5 star rating. The whole property looks run down - rust and pink mold stains in the bathrooms, dirty pools, peeling wallpaper, stained carpet. The place could look immaculate and like one of the best hotels in the US if they actually committed to keeping it maintained, but I couldn't even get soap to take a shower, they just kept giving me more shampoo. Indicative of the whole experience really.

Valet unreliable. Was told that there is a waitlist for EV charging. Car did not get charged. Was told that rooms were not ready until 90 minutes past check-in time. Because of 2 weddings on the grounds, crowded with drunk loud partygoers. NOT a family-friendly hotel

For over $500 per night, stay elsewhere. It has a very dated interior, the “superior” rooms were like a dungeon. A small window overlooking a roof top and boiler room. And the worst part, there was a very loud banging noise from the ceiling 24/7 that came every 25 seconds. Kept me up and I couldn’t get work done due to the noise.

Beautiful hotel located in a lovely neighborhood in Pasadena. The setting and grounds really were worth staying in a different part of LA than we usually would. Great service in all aspects, the staff were really helpful and friendly.
