"An Unexpected Gem"

A change in travel plans had us spending one night in Hartford on our way to our ultimate destination in Connecticut. Enjoyed a completely unexpected, *outstanding* experience at The Goodwin. This hotel punches above its weight! The hotel is a gem. A repurposed and refurbished 19thc apartment building, the spacious rooms are thoughtfully laid out with modern furnishings. We settled into a deluxe double queen with a sofa facing the TV, and felt right at home. The library bar downstairs hosts a light continental breakfast of yogurt and muffins with coffee and assorted teas (the latter available most of the day). Also noteworthy is the staff. From my first phone contact with Mishka at Reception about an early arrival after a red-eye, to our check-in and checkout ( and every interaction in between), Mishka was courteous, attentive and welcoming. She is an exemplar of real hospitality in an industry where that quality can sometimes be lacking. Choose The Goodwin over any chain hotel—you won’t regret it!

Great hotel with friendly staff. Beautiful unique decor. Room was very nice, spacious and comfortable. We were not happy when someone made A LOT of noise and slammed doors at 6 AM! We didn’t realize walls were so thin until then. People outside our door sounded as if they were in the same room! Other than that issue we enjoyed our one night stay before our flight home. The bar in the hotel was very good, relaxing and convenient after a long day of traveling.
