A beautiful location, a fabulous room, friendly attentive staff and lovely food. What more can I say.

Location was lovely. We had a dog with us, so the grounds were a bonus to take her for a walk. The look of the property, starting with the drive to the front of the building. Plenty of parking. Reception was very welcoming. The room was quite a good size and the bed was comfortable.

We had a dog with us, so we were allocated a dog-friendly room, room 17 (mansion house) so our room was overlooking the back, however, there was a musty/damp smell in the small hallway leading to the two rooms 16 and 17. Thankfully, not in the room. Unfortunately, we were also kept awake by a couple talking until 1.30 in the morning, so a bad nights sleep and for me stressful. As we had our dog with us we are very mindful about making sure we didn’t disturb guests!!! Shower cubicle could have been a bit cleaner, tap in the sink was loose, poor lighting for shaving. We did mention some of these issues to reception, who apologised and said they would look into it.

We love the setting and although it’s close to the M4, it’s set far enough back where it’s nice and peaceful.

We normally stay in one of the mansion rooms, but it was busy, so we stayed in Hepburn House, which is a little cramped for me.

Everything was as we would have expected for a good 3 star hotel.

It's missing the refinements of a 4 star hotel, which, we believe, it is trying to achieve.

The room was well furnished and lovely and modern. Definitely great value for money.

I had an issue when I returned to the hotel at 0230 in a taxi; nobody answered the gate buzzer and the link through to reception didn't work. I eventually phoned the hotel and was on hold for 5 minutes until someone answered the phone.
