Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton

I was looking a hotel in Oxnard because of my Channel Islands NP trip. But when I see a view from 303 room I made a decision to stay one night longer. Sitting on a balcony was a pure pleasure. Part ocean view is perfect, even better than ocean front. Hotel is really nice, new enough (European standards), staff is very helpful. If I will ever drive Hwy 1 I will definitely stay again here. I would give them 4 stars. It is not common to get so good hotel in US. Perfection!

Hidden charges! $45 for parking..$35 resort fee..Never would I ever booked here had I known of all these added fees! The rooms were very nice, but furniture worn and needs to be replaced! Since it was cool when we visited, the amenities were not used.

I almost switched hotels based on all the negative reviews, but we decided to roll the dice. WE LOVED OUR TRIP! All the staff we interacted with were courteous, lovely, and helpful. The pool was heated, and the hot tub is plenty big for multiple families to be in at the same time. The beach is right there and an easy walk. You can rent items from Henry's to enjoy on the beach. At the time of our stay, the rate included two hours of rental, but we just took our pool towels and explored the beach. There was a big storm that rolled over the three days we were there, so we didn't get to fully enjoy the property, but we managed to get a good taste in between rain breaks. A couple of things of note that as long as you know ahead of time, you can plan well. Food on site from the convenience items to the fancy restaurant is expensive. The hotel is nicer and pretty isolated without any food options shorter than a 15-minute walk mid week. So you'll find bottled soda and snacks for twice the price of the local grocery stores. It is what it is. Prepare to pay, order a grocery delivery, or drive/Uber to a grocery store to stock up. Let the price of a soda spoil your vacation? Why? We had food from both the airstream Beats and takeaway from Ox and Ocean. At the time of our stay, we booked through Hilton and booked a breakfast credit rate. We had $25 per person per day to spend on breakfast at Beats or Ox and Ocean. That covered most of what we ordered, and it was great to be able to have some food before going out and exploring the city. You can find plenty of photos and reviews of food here, through Yelp or tiktok to help you plan if you don't want to wing it. The property was well maintained. There were times there were larger bags of trash or room service dishes outside the rooms as the housekeepers came through, but it was all picked up and taken care of by mid day. Elevators worked just fine for our trip. Pools were cleaned and maintained. There were times when there were leaves or foliage in the pool, but that's understandable with all the trees and plants around. Nothing that interfered with our enjoyment of the day. Service carts rolling past the rooms can be loud for a minute as it passes, but that's because it's an open-air hallway and not a carpeted interior hall. All the furniture in our room was updated and wonderful. Beds were the standard Hilton beds and pillows we expected and were comfortable. The hotel is 3 floors. We were in a 3rd floor room in the G building. Room 760 and had perfect views. I included some photos of the property map since I wasn't finding any online at the time of my booking. We would definitely come back, especially if we booked at a time when all the events and activities are in full swing.

Room was spacious; happy hour was great! Pool and Hot Tub were just right! Never felt crowded. Amazing sunset at the edge of the property. Can't wait to go back!

Only thing was that it was hard to find our room, but once we did, it was easy to access. Pool boy was rude...rationed the towels even though it was pretty quiet as far as the number of people even using the pool.

I booked an extended 11-night stay while remodeling a nearby beach condo in December 2025. I frequent this property often for the restaurant and quiet lobby workspace, but this was my first time actually staying here. Service This property carries a Hilton flag, but the service does not reflect Hilton standards. To start, a valet attendant was openly rude, berating, and disrespectful toward me and my family. We were treated like second-class citizens, and his cold demeanor and assuming remarks made us uncomfortable enough that we actively avoided him for the remainder of our stay. No guest — especially a family — should feel the need to “watch their back” while staying at a Marriott-branded property. Beyond that incident, many staff members appeared disengaged and uninterested in hospitality, as though they were simply clocking in and out. While the front desk and restaurant staff were pleasant, the overall experience felt inconsistent and poorly managed. I’m originally from the area and have stayed at nearby properties such as the Crowne Plaza, where service is noticeably more professional and aligned with brand expectations. Service rating: 1.5 / 5 Rooms At $200–$300 per night, the oceanfront view is the primary redeeming quality. Unfortunately, room conditions fell well below expectations. Issues during our stay included: • Ants • Broken appliances • Heater malfunctions We were forced to switch rooms twice. All issues were reported to the front desk, yet nothing was addressed at checkout. I ultimately sought out the General Manager on our final day to discuss these concerns in person. The GM, Ricardo, was cordial and offered a free night and assurances around retraining staff (particularly valet). While appreciated, the response felt surface-level and did not meaningfully resolve the underlying issues. Ricardo promised a cordial apology email and guess what, the email was never received..shame on the GM and this is why I am posting this review after deleting initially. Final Thoughts I had originally planned to book multiple meetings and extended stays for my staff here next year, given the location and proximity to our work. Based on this experience, I’ve decided to allocate those bookings to alternate accommodations instead. This review is shared intentionally for Hilton leadership and ownership visibility. A Hilton-branded property should deliver consistent professionalism, functional rooms, and a baseline level of respect for guests. Unfortunately, this stay fell short across all three. With proper oversight, staff changes, and accountability, this property could improve. Until then, I cannot recommend it — especially for families, long stays, or corporate bookings.
