"Only room I could find."

4.0

I attempted to stay at a few other locations. All info on Google maps and Facebook were incorrect on hotels in Kenitra. No way to search or locate vacancies for rooms. Was 680 Moroccan Dirhams or $62.81 US. The room was large and clean. Large shower area in bathroom, area between Western toilet and bidet was very cramped. A large person would have a problem. The air conditioning didn't work first two days but was on and working good on third day. The television had six channels, five Arabic or French. One channel the Big Blue 2 US MOVIES only English channel, it was stuck on a picture and was saying all the words (radio). I reported it to front desk, was rewarded by someone deleting it from television. The Wi-Fi was very strong. This is in no way a $63.00 room in any country. Maximum $40.00 if television had better channels. Also building exits are not marked by international signage. Ensure your escape route.

"Stay Away!!"

2.0

if you can make the effort to drive a couple of miles from Kenitra to Rabat then do it. There are no decent hotels in Kenitra ... even the new Relax hotel is rubbish!!!. if the Jacaranda was in any other country it would be condemned or demolished, the rooms are filthy, there will only be one lamp in the room which may be a good thing as you may pick up more unpleasant details of the room, the windows don't shut properly and the black out curtains don't close all the way, the bathroom is stinking and more than often occupied buy several cockroaches. the bed sheets are not changed that often, and if you pull back the pillow case you will see the oldest dirtiest yellow sweat stained pillows probably in the world!!!. if you are planning on a good nights sleep then wear ear plugs, the noise from the dogs barking people shouting car horns etc etc is just horrendous, if the windows were double glazed and closed properly it may help a little. The air con units in the room don't work, you will get more air from someone blowing through a straw!!!. There is pool bar with a small swimming pool, enter the pool at your own risk!!, all the time I've stayed there not once did I see a person come and test the water, at the pool bar you can have food which out of all the hotel is probably the best place to eat. The restaurant is like trying to order food in the Faulty towers sit com, you order something off the menu and the waiter is saying Yes Yes to everything you've ordered and when it arrives at your table it's totally different to what you had selected from the menu and agreed with him, when you call him back and tell him he would just say Yes Yes!!!! so you can guess what we used to call him??. the bar is dark and full of smoke. the day before you check out make the effort to go down and check your bill as they do have the tendency to make the occasional mistake (often). Breakfast ... take loads of cereal bars and try to avoid it in the Jacaranda. the times I went down there were cockroaches in the bread, flies crawling over everything that's not covered and what amazed me was when the waiter cleaned up some breakfast dishes there was a half drunk glass of orange juice he poured that back into the container where every one serves themselves from!!!. I'VE GOT TO STAY THERE ON COMPANY BUSINESS, but my advice to the people that have a choice ... STAY AWAY!!!! ps ... make sure you've had all your inoculations if you've got to stay there. Good Luck.

"Dirty!"

2.0

I stayed one week in this hotel in september 2011. Great location in the city center. My first impression was good. Old hotel but with a nice lobby. I arrived at night and after long trip all I wanted was a nice hot shower. Unfortunately the bathroom was extremly dirty. Bath was covered with thick layer of dirt. Shower curtain, shower head and water taps were covered in limescale and mold. There were spiderwebs in the corners. The room was dirty too. There was mold on the wall under the window. Bed was clean i think (i hope!) but the rug by the bed was full of hair and dirt. I saw hotel maids cleaning the rooms just with the broom.

"So you want to travel and visit Kenitra, but remember you are in Morocco for the experience"

4.0

This review is not intended to be negative in any way but if you want 5 star accommodation and food to die for visit an area popular with tourists and where hotels have to be competitive, but then you have to be prepared to pay for the privilege. However if you want an experience to remember and you are prepared to embrace the local culture stay at the Hotel Jacaranda in Kenitra. What I am trying to say is look around your home area for I have no doubt that you will have cheap hotels, that serve bad food, and no doubt you would not want to either stay or eat there; but some people will or the hotel will close - but go into the city where business people have to go you will find all of the glitzy palaces that serve 5 stars meals but ask yourself can you or would you personally pay their prices? Yes the Hotel Jacarandar is very old and yes it is very tired, but that is what the local demand can afford and because Kenitra is not full of wealthy business people it will not improve. If you do not accept that statement find some tourist trap in Southern Spain and enjoy - but you will not know Morocco. The air conditioning in my room did not work and because the room cleaners have a tenancy to open the windows you do get the odd mosquito - but if you lived in a tent you would learn to sleep in the heat and put up with the odd mosquito. The curtains within my room were hanging off the track therefore they did not close properly and the blackout curtains were torn - as such did not keep out the morning sun but they did give cover for modesty. The room was clean and there was no signs of any insects however the bathroom did smell and there was no shower gel having said that there were 2 small bars of soap which sufficed. Breakfast was limited but it did break the night's fast. I was not impressed with the food in the hotel and I would advise finding another local eating house. The staff were very friendly and the cleaners always very active in the foyer. There was a sauna and a swimming pool with a bar and cafe attached but it was nit on my radar. Wi-Fi was hit and miss but that is not the hotels fault, it is the way WI-FI is in Morocco The hotel has a very active bar on the ground floor as well as a night club. The bar attracts a lot of young females in very provocative dresses - I do not know why they are there but I am sure that if you visit you will arrive at the same conclusion that I came to. The Hotel Kenitra is supposed to be the best hotel in the immediate location and parked outside of the are a lot of new and very expensive cars all belonging to Moroccans - so the hotel must have some attractions. For me it certainly was an experience and if I have to visit Kenitra again the chances are I will be staying at the Hotel Jacaranda.

"Didn't change the sheets from previous stayers! Dirty and unfriendly"

2.0

This hotel was atrocious! Firstly when I arrived I was told my room was ready so I strolled on up to my room only for my room not to be made. The cleaners came rushing over and with me they walked inside the room to tidy it. Both beds were unmade and in front of me they did not change the sheets. Even though they could see I was new to the room as my big travel bags were with me. All they did was make the bed clean a few bits of litter up around the room. They only changed the sheets after I went down to reception to complain. While this was going on I found out the air conditioning machine was not working. After much discussion they agreed to let me change rooms. They gave me a choice of two other rooms but once again the air conditioning was not working in either of these! Anyhow I pitched up in one of these ridiculously hot rooms to sleep in sheets that had probably been slept in by someone else the previous night. Not to mention I received new towels with blood stains on, no internet/wifi in the room and the odd cockroach running around I would say it was great :/ My flight was leaving from Rabat at 21:00 so on the whole week I had requested a late check out. Which they had confirmed with me several times. On the day of my departure I checked at 11:00 only to be told I was not allowed the late check out and that I had to be out of my room in 15 minutes, if not I would have to pay for another full night. The receptionist was extremely unfriendly and even though I offered to pay a bit more money for the late checkout she was having none of it. People have talked about the good price here, but for 50EURO for a singles room, in Morocco I beg to differ. You're better off going across the street to Hotel Mamora where it looked a lot nicer. All this being said bar staff and cleaners were friendly. I have traveled over 30 weeks a year with my job for the last 10 years and I have stayed in every sort of hotel going and faced many problems with others. However this is the first time I have written a review on a hotel as I have never seen anything like it here. Save your money and go somewhere else!

"very old hotel"

6.0

I get in the night at this hotel, after I drove all day long. I was tired this was the first hotel that I found in Kenitra. The hallway is very nice, the hotel staff saw me I was tired and immediately they helped me with luggage and they gave me a room. The room was not expensive, but was old. It was clean but the furniture and the smell showed the hotel was old and needs some maintenance. In the bathroom I didn't have soap or shampoo, only towels. The bathroom was clean. The room was a little bit noisy , in the night they have a lot of traffic outside of the hotel. Next morning I had a very good breakfast. They gave me a lot of food. The hotel's hallway and the restaurant it is very nice decorated. They have also an underground parking. The stuff was friendly and very efficient. Because of the price, it is worth staying one night. The truth is in Kenitra you don't have to many choices for a hotel.

"The worst hotel i have ever stayed. El peor hotel de mi vida."

2.0

We booked 6 rooms. The air conditioning didn´t work in 5 rooms. I visited 12 rooms more and all of them the a/c was broken. The rooms had hair at the floor. The bath was dirty. There were no maintenance. We went to dinner and they promised they would find 5 rooms with a/c working. When we returned they had lost the suitcases in any room, and we stayed from 1,00 am to 3,00 looking for the lost suitcases.... May I continue? Yes, the price was really expensive for Marocoo and E.U. too. Alquilamos 6 habitaciones.

"Dump"

2.0

Stay away if you can, I stayed two weeks on business, unfortunately there are not many decent hotel options available in town if there was an Ibis or Holiday inn this place would go bust. it might be able to survive on the bar takings, especially when the "ladies" are visiting the front bar. The pool bar seems to be men only, who smoke and letch while listening to awful local "musicians" if you have to stay here don't get a room near the pool, don't expect any Wi-Fi unless- you want to conduct all of your business in the unwelcoming lobby- don't expect a TV that has more than a few useless channels and don't expect a breakfast worth eating. We took our own fresh fruit and juice into breakfast every morning after seeing the waiter repair the juice dispenser by plunging his hand into the juice and scraping around the inner dispenser mechanism with his nails. I travel the whole world on business and this one ranks pretty high on my hotels to avoid list.
