Construction right outside my balcony after I paid more for an ocean view

Marriott charged me for this stay even though I booked through Booking.com and now I can't get ahold of Marriott to refund me the double charge. If Booking.com can support, I would appreciate it. Please.

I booked a room with double beds, balcony and partial ocean view. With tax, fees, the room was $700+. When I arrived to the hotel, there was a monstrous construction project happening. Now, they weren't actually working or making noise, but what an eye sore!!!! Who wants to sit on their balcony and see this? I asked to change rooms. I asked why this construction was not posted on the website as I would have selected a different hotel. I was told it's because it's not interfering with the daily operations of the hotel. Who cares? When I pay $$$ a night, this is not what I want. They gave me a $150 credit. Other parts of the hotel looked ok. After this disappointment, while we were lounging by the pool, and jacuzzi, a little boy probably 5 or 6, pulled down his pants and peed right on the ground. I know he could have easily peed in the water, but people were walking barefoot and stepped right into it. His parents didn't do anything. I notified staff in the case they'd want to pour some solution or something, but they didn't do anything: Overall, this was such a big disappointment.

This is my first review of a Marriott property, and it reflects my disappointment with this stay. As a frequent Marriott traveler and Ambassador Elite member, I found the experience well below expectations. The hotel appeared significantly understaffed: front desk wait times were lengthy, the coffee shop had a single employee managing long lines, and while the room was clean and visually appealing, the overall quality (including linens) felt inconsistent with brand standards. During my stay, I encountered multiple maintenance issues. Most notably, the balcony door would not lock; after calling twice, I waited more than 20 minutes for assistance, and the lock ultimately required replacement. This issue should have been identified prior to check-in. When I raised the concern, the front desk manager, Edgar, returned my call more than an hour later and explained that the delay was due to the hotel being extremely busy and managing a high volume of on-site events. Unfortunately, that interaction set the tone for the remainder of my stay. The following day, I contacted maintenance regarding a malfunctioning thermostat, but no one arrived. I selected this property solely because I was attending a conference. With the service issues and how stretched thin they seem during big events, I’d suggest looking at other nearby options instead like the Ritz-Carlton, where I’ve had much better service, beach access, and overall stays in the past.

Wonderful stay at the Laguna Cliffs with my pups. They catered to my fur babies with Jasper peanut butter and blueberry treats and they loved them!! Great hotel who pays attention to details and customer service.

Third time staying at this resort, and it was not a charm. The rooms are very nice, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is construction going on, so just be aware. Didn't bother us even though it was not ideal. The reason I am giving 3 stars is they have changed many of their food and beverage policies. We are Titanium Elite and accepted the free breakfast instead of points. Last visit, the voucher breakfast was phenomenal. You could order off the menu or do the continental breakfast. I understand now limiting it to the continental breakfast, if it was the full continental breakfast. They split the breakfast buffet into the free side and $20 extra side. The free side consists only of oatmeal, bread, fruit, cereal, and cold foods. If you wanted sausage, potatoes, or bacon (there were no eggs) at the buffet, it was $20 extra. I've had more selection and better food at Springhill Suites. Paid $50 for a breakfast that would have been free and better at another hotel, let alone the Denny's across the street. We had dinner the day before, and the shareable plate with the pretzel and bratwurst was great, but the free drink vouchers didn't cover the only rose they had on the menu. Another change since the prior visit. Now, only a very limited selection of wines are included. I'm not sure what has prompted all the food and beverage changes, but they are not for the better or what we expected when booking a return stay.

Location was beautiful, room was good, restaurant was very good, nice pool-hot tub area with warm water! We also thought every staff person was extremely friendly and helpful.

Soundproofing could be better. Noise reached us from hallway and adjacent rooms.

First room no real ocean view, changed room slightly better view a Long long way on the property. Ac blasted our heads, had to switch to end of the bed, water from sink AWFUL SMELL, shower awful no glass??? Not really a good experience
