The staff at the hotel were very attentive, friendly and polite. Mulksin our room attendant was wonderful. Food was good and varied.

It was a shame the entertainment wasn't on during our stay. But the piano playing was very good. I would prefer a hotel to have their own connected pool facilities, was a bit strange going over the road to swim.

"Hidden depths: lovely staff run a large but friendly hotel with something for everyone"

This is a big hotel which caters for many different groups and individuals, but don’t let that put you off as this is also its strength. Its location slightly out of town (short walk through beautiful Howard Davis park with friendly red squirrels) is one of its assets, as it is large with many facilities. There is a good gym plus an outdoor heated pool (including an area you can swim lengths.) We found the Merton was a great base for a 3-day discovery trip to Jersey.
