DoubleTree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin

It's claimed that it has the best hotel pool in Darwin. I agree with that. The pool area needs more shade though in hot weather. Nice modern rooms. A very clean hotel with very good staff and plenty of them. Food nice but the menu is a bit limited in choices but the breakfast bar is as good as any, I think. The hotel is presently being refurbished in a major way which is definitely a big visual negative but it is not overly obtrusive and the staff do acknowledge its impact on guests. They did make a mistake regarding credit card bond and call us in our room at 10:20pm to ask us to come down to sort it out. What were they thinking, of course we did not go down. My reduced score is due largely to that incident and to a lesser degree the renovations.

Érica was exceptional, She made our wedding night one of the best nights of our lives. She was on night shift and was honestly the nicest person I’ve ever talked to at a hotel.

Great stay in the CBD with secure parking. Big comfy bed, excellent breakfast, helpful and friendly stuff. Short walk to Esplanade and restaurants.

The bed was comfy and the room was spacious.

First room was not cleaned. Second room, card didn't work. Dinner charge was muddled with another customer. Room not cleaned in time on second day. Happy hour queue took us to 6.02pm, and we were told too late for discounted drink as after 6pm, the cut off time. Declined a settlement account on leaving for checking and when received by email, it contained errors. We have emailed the hotel for reimbursement. An unnecessary nuisance.

Rooms were large and clean. Pool was amazing. Breakfast outstanding. Restaurant on site had great food and great choices and the location near the pool was brilliant. Close to city and across the road from a park with great walking paths.

Room was a long way from lifts.

We were moved to the Hilton Garden INN. DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE ONLY BOOKED THE DOUBLE TREE BECAUSE THE GHAN PICK UP IS THERE. THE GHAN DOES NOT PICK UP FROM THE HILTON GARDEN INN.
