Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Madison West/Middleton

Clean and safe spot to stay on a road trip through the area.

Staff are wonderful, from front desk to the shuttle driver. Breakfast looked to be good. Variety of places within walking distance for eating. Now the reasons for the poor review: Fridge did not close all of the way (minor). Rips in the curtains (minor). Too noisy and needs black out curtains. (Major) People in the adjoining room sounded like they were in the room with me. I could hear them speaking, their TV and their radio clearly through the adjoining door. I could even see if their lights were on through the gaps. Why do you put complete strangers in these types of rooms? The traffic noise from the highway was very loud. The guests above me were most certainly not bowling balls or toddlers, but that is what they sounded like. The security light in the parking lot was ridiculous. It lit up the room like it was daylight and it was impossible to block it. Worst sleep experience I've had in 20 years of travel.

Hotel was overbooked by website. There was a delay in getting a room

Got in at 9:40pm, the booking said to call ahead if we would be later than 10pm. When we arrived nobody was at the desk. We waited 10 mins for someone to show up.

The hotel is in excellent condition. The rooms were very clean, the staff was incredibly kind, and I would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Our stay was overall OK, but just a few issues: 1) The bed sheets were loose and the mattress cover had to be pulled down multiple times during the night. Annoying. 2) Two adult males were shooting off fireworks from the rear parking lot one evening. Loud and annoying, but hotel staff ignored them. Potential safety issue, but there also could have been car damage. 3) Breakfast was fine, but there were more people than table space. 4) Air conditioning was poor in our room. Either too cold or too damp.

The location was perfect for our trip.
