Monterey Marriott

Great location.

We always stay at Marriotts when we travel in US overseas for business or vacation. We usually have a positive experience. NOT THIA TIME! We noticed a bad odor in the room upon arrival, tried to open a window or the sliding door to allow fresh air inside the room. The sliding door was locked and the windows did not have opening option. The fan was running and I became concern without fresh air, we might be breathing the air that circulates throughout our floor and we might be breathing the air coming from rooms with guests who may have illness. That was proven to be true once we got home after spending 2 nights at this hotel. I was diagnosed with COVID 3 days after returning home. I have never had Covid before. In addition, the only item on the breakfast buffet I could eat was a piece of whole wheat bread, a carton of milk. The coffee tasted old and bitter, the water melon was sludgy, other fruits were old and I do not eat any white wheat products due to its cause for diabetic and cancer. The 3 stars are for the very friendly and respectful staff and especially the valet guys who were very efficient, polite and helpful. The location of this hotel is great.

Great place to stay! Clean, friendly staff

The rooms were outdated. Our room had a bathtub. I was expecting a walk in shower for the room and price. The towels had smell to them. I had to get them changed.

Nice big room king bed with a great view. Good location for strolling around and dinner. Coffee was not ready until 7am, but starbucks is around the corner. Gotta deal with Seagull p**p. Pretty pricey, but love Marriotts

Loved our stay at Marriott Monterey! Super clean, great location—just a short walk to Fisherman’s Wharf and easy access to the trolley for the aquarium. Perfect spot for exploring Monterey!

Only downside- the faucet water gets really hot, so be careful!

Proximity to stores

The hotel is in a centric area with easy access to the trolleys that can take you to the Monterey Bay Aquarium or Cannery Row for free. The centric area has its disadvantages with parking and with a busy hot tub and pool. The room was comfortable and clean as described.
