"Do Not Stay Here"

2.0

***DO NOT STAY HERE*** For specifics, please continue reading : For the purpose of posting, I entered a single star. But actually this review has ZERO stars. I had such an awful experience at this property I did not stay. I drove to this property in Lake City, SC from Northern NJ. After the twelve hour drive, I arrived at the Days Inn on Ron McNair Blvd. to a locked lobby at approximately 5:00PM on April 3, 2026. I peered through the glass doors and the window looking for a member of the staff. I saw no one, so I rang the bell. Twice. After about ten minutes, a man walked up to one of the glass doors from the outside, looked at me, and said, "Come this way". I followed him into the building and he walked behind the counter. He asked for my name and ID, which I provided. There was no warm greeting or an apology for any inconvenience. I asked if the property was closed during certain times of the day and was told no - - that someone is in or around the property at all times. I shared that I'd rung the bell twice and waited for around ten minutes. The man responded, "She went to the bank". As he was processing my check in, "she" walked in. "She" and the man had an exchange regarding her absence. During the exchange he told her a guest had been waiting. Her response to him was, "that's fine" in a tone that I can only describe as cavalier and dismissive. I had been standing silently during their conversation, but at that comment I offered a mild, "Well, it's not 'fine', but..." and my voice trailed off. "She" exploded! With an elevated and very angry voice, she told me that people sometimes have emergencies, and that I needed to understand that. Her face was twisted and contorted as she continued on saying that if I couldn't understand what emergencies are than there must be something wrong with me. She told me that she was NOT talking to me when she said "that's fine" and that I was butting into her conversation when I said anything at all. I told her that I understood emergencies as I had one of my own. I told her that I needed to use the restroom upon my arrival at the property after a long and tiring drive. I spoke to her carefully, as I was unsure of how she would behave according to her angry and extremely hostile demeanor. Her voice escalated further as she spoke more loudly and aggressively saying that it was not her problem that I was tired, and she added that the property did not have a restroom in the lobby. Inexplicably, she went on to advise me that the property was built without a restroom in the lobby. I suggested that as a paying customer, I would have had access to the restroom in the accommodations I had booked if I had been able to check in upon my arrival. My response took her to a heightened level of fury. She walked closer to me quickly and shouted that she would not be lectured - and yelled that if I didn't want to stay there I was free to leave. At that point she asked me directly, "So do you want to stay here or not?" My response was to ask, "Do you want the business or not?" After about three or four seconds of silence between us, she said, "Okay - so you are staying because you don't have a choice". Stunned by the inaccuracy of her statement and the totality of the disrespect I had endured, I turned and left the lobby without another word. After about three minutes, I returned to the lobby to request a copy of the document I had signed during my attempt to check in. I also requested that a cancelation be processed at that time. "She" had calmed down by that point and she told me that because I'd booked the stay through Expedia, she was unable to process a cancelation. She told me to contact Expedia directly to complete cancelation. I thanked her for that information and left the property. I noticed there was a Quality Inn very nearby, so I pulled into the parking lot to check availability. As if I were in a comedy routine of some sort, the man behind the counter at the Quality Inn was the SAME man I had initial contact with at the Days Inn. Apparently, both properties are owned and operated by the same "She". Resigned to the irony, I laughed to myself, turned and left. As suggested, I contacted Expedia. I recounted my experience at the Days Inn and requested a cancelation. The Expedia representative explained that the Days Inn would be contacted and a fee waiver would be requested from them. Upon receipt of the waiver from Days Inn, Expedia would then be able to process my cancelation. I'm sure, Dear Reader, you can guess how this ends. Of course, the Days Inn denied the waiver request from Expedia - which means that I paid the full cost for the entirety of the booking even though I didn't stay there. I am fully confident that "She" knew the process, and knew she would deny the waiver when she suggested that I contact Expedia. I consider the $378.92 it cost as a paid advertisement to the public at large letting all who read this review know that booking a stay at the Days Inn and the Quality Inn in Lake City, SC comes with the risks as detailed and noted above. If I can save a single potential customer the indignity I suffered, I haven't lost a thing --I WON!!!!! That price is such a small amount to pay for the privilege of sharing my experience and saving someone else. I recommend to everyone considering a stay at these properties to be better to yourselves. Be kinder to yourselves. You can definitely do better than either of these places. I

"The stay was ok. I would not be selecting this Hotel again didn't like the personality of the Clerk there. He was"

7.0

It was in a good location

There were ants in the bed when we pulled the covers back. The breakfast was not up to par. There was no spray to spray on the Waffle iron so no waffles were made and the cereal tasted stale. We ended up going out each morning. There was a big gap at the bottom of the door I guess that is where the ants were coming in.
