A quiet retreat like setting in the hills above Tamarindo. Excellent meals with attentive but not intrusive service, well appointed cabins and shuttle service back and forth to central Tamarindo. Overall a very pleasant stay. The unfailing courtesy shown by the staff exudes the Costa Rican national ethos of Pura Vida.

The staff was amazing and the resort is beautiful and spotless! Great breakfast… would love to see more muffins and croissants offered. Dinner options are very European, and elegantly presented. Would recommend going into Tamarindo for dinner/lunch options as well! LaGosta Beach Club is a must for a beach day!

I had one of my most favorite trips while staying at the Pacific Kalokairi Ecohotel. First and foremost the rooms are truly luxurious, which is only amplified by the stunning view of the ocean and jungle. By being further from Tamarindo and higher in the forest, the view is even more impressive. This scene was equally impressive from the beautiful infinity pool! Perhaps the best part of this vacation was the hotel staff and restaurant. They worked with our party to help us formulate our daily plans, and to help decide which excursions were most appropriate for our diverse group. They also arranged transportation for us which was much appreciated, since we didn’t have rental car. On top of all of the help they provided our party, they were so welcoming! Our time in Costa Rica would not have been nearly as relaxing and enjoyable without the staff at the Pacific Kalokairi. Throughout the trip, the best meals we had were prepared by chef Daniel. We dined at the hotel restaurant multiple times as the menu changed everyday and was always excellent. I highly recommend a stay at the Pacific Kalokairi, and I will definitely be back in the future!

This hotel is so unique - each ‘room’ is a small bungalow with a dedicated AC and private porches. We stayed in the “jungle view” side and it felt like a tree house - very cool and relaxing. Each morning you wake up to the sound of howler monkeys moving through the trees. The staff is exceptional - Herman, Carlos, and Virginia do an incredible job of making sure you have everything you need - from creative and delicious meal options from their kitchen to coordinating taxis to take you to and from town. They have great recommendations for food and activities. The location is very relaxing - it tends to be very quiet and is very much removed from the noise and bustle of downtown Tamarindo, so it’s a great place to unwind after a busy day of adventures in the surrounding area. Sitting poolside and seeing the ocean in the distance was so lovely. The breakfasts are perfect, and nothing like your typical hotel. One evening we did the Tapas tasting menu and that was incredible. Overall the food was great, limited options because it’s a small place and everything is fresh, but it’s so well made. The hotel also shared information to book tours with Native Way - we booked everything in advance and got emails about locations and times and reminders from the scheduling service so that was so convenient. The vast majority of the activities we did through that service were incredible and well worth the money (the sunset cruise Marlin del Rey on a 66 foot catamaran in particular was so so fun and special). The only downside was moving to and from town was a bit of a hassle - the hotel is up a steep hill and the final part of the trip is a mile or so up a dirt road, so using the taxis and transport service to and from the airport through the hotel is critical - if the driver doesn’t know the roads, they can get stuck. The hotel does over two drop offs and pickups in town as well per day, so you can time it so you only need a taxi one way. The hotel staff makes it as convenient for you as possible though.

The ONLY negative thing I can say about this place is that no one told me that the delicious coconut rice was on the menu for a second time! The service was EXCEPTIONAL, the he food was great (that coconut rice 😋), staff was personable without being intruding. Oh, and Charlie was extremely charming. I was pleasantly surprised at how few bugs there were! I really liked that the hotel was somewhat secluded, although it was only a 5-minute ride into town. The room was great with an unbelievable view. They even made sure we had transportation to and from town. I highly recommend this place.

My intuition led me to book here. I was looking for a quiet retreat, away from the hustle, that would allow me to just relax. That is exactly what Virginia and the amazing team delivered. The rooms are so private, clean, and equipped with all the amenities one could need. Sitting out on my own deck, sipping my morning coffee, is how I started each of my days. Breakfast was always fresh and delicious. I ate most of my meals at the restaurant, and it was truly an experience, my taste buds were bursting with every dish. The pool temperature was ideal, and the view? The sunsets were spectacular - truly Golden Hour! They offered a shuttle a couple of times a day, which I took advantage of when I was ready to venture into Tamarindo. I also used the taxi service, which was convenient. All of my needs were met and then some. If you are looking for a chill and friendly vibe, this place is it. Absolutely wonderful Hotel/Resort - cannot recommend highly enough. We were lucky to secure a last-minute reservation, and from the moment we dealt with the hotel owners and staff, we were incredibly impressed. Upon arrival, the view is gorgeous, the hotel is absolutely immaculate, and all the amenities are incredible - infinity pool with the best drinks and service you could imagine! Then, there's the food - I cannot rate highly enough. We intended to head into town more often, but, upon tasting the absolutely delicious, fresh, incredible meals - we ended up eating nearly every meal here. The Chef deserves special recognition, this was international level service. On a personal note, I had the most incredible 5 days here, so relaxing, my soul felt nourished with the hotel and surrounds (including monkeys on our daily walk!). We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and the personal touches that they created for us will never be forgotten. To say thank you wouldn't suffice, this hotel is truly a gem, and I absolutely loved staying here...

My husband and I were excited to escape for the holidays, and Pacific Kalokairi exceeded our expectations. This isn't your typical hotel; the rooms are spread out across the stunning property, ensuring privacy with no shared walls. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable, and full of natural light. Each morning, we had coffee on our patio, listening to the birds and howler monkeys. The on-site restaurant, managed by a 5-star chef, was a major highlight of our stay. We dined there for nearly every meal during our 7-day visit, and each dish was thoughtfully crafted and exquisite. The hotel staff—Virginia, Carlos, Hernán, Maria, and Charly (the sweetest hotel "guard" dog)—welcomed us like old friends, making our departure even more difficult. Just a 6-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo, it's easy to explore the area at your leisure. We highly recommend renting a 4wd to discover the beautiful beaches beyond Tamarindo. We can't wait to go back!
