Pacific Kalokairi Adults Only

To summarize - we left within 3hrs due to bugs + hair in the bed and on other surfaces. We kindly asked for a new room, then a refund- we were denied. Do not be fooled by the good reviews - if your experience is anything like ours, you will regret booking this place. I explained the whole situation on other sites, so i'll keep it short here. We complained about the bugs and were called liars by the manager, Virginia. We were more than amendable, but were treated SO horribly I am still in shock. I am looking forward to Virginia's response to this review, as she tends to gaslight her customers who write less than favorable things. In addition to bugs, an obvious deal breaker - theres some things about this hotel you should know that also add up to a less than "exceptional" experience. 1) The "jungle view" room is of a dumpster. 2) There was hair on multiple pillows 3) The AC did not work after 3 hours, it was still 80+ degrees in the room. Another review mentions they turn it off after cleaning. It's not powerful enough to cool down after a full day not on. 4) The road to the hotel does not have directional signage and is difficult, even for the experienced Costa Rican driver. 5) The "free shuttle" is for 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm. Any other time is a twelve dollar one way trip. 6) The restaurant closes at 9 PM. Essentially, lights out, if you choose to take the 9 PM shuttle back

Every staff was nice and friendly and the hotel is so pretty, safe and quiet.

Lovely small, privat and quiet hotel. This hotel is for you if you prefer a bit more remote retreat with the chance to go into Tamarindo and on the beach for bits of your stay and otherwise prefer secluded and quiet with a fabulous view. That’s what we were looking for and we definitely found it here. Super relaxing! Delicious food and lovely owners and staff including resort dog Charlie ❤️

Great quiet retreat!

I strongly recommend this hotel for people who like excellent location, great service, close to nature, amazing food and private place.

I’ll first start by saying this hotel is beautiful! The rooms, the view, the staff were all very delightful. Virginia was THE best from booking, arranging airport transfer, assisted with booking excursions as well as helped with locating an officiant. My only negative is the location. Kalokiari is situated in a very under developed area, about 10 mins from Tamarindo. Most of the drivers complained/were not enthused to service the location due to the road conditions where it’s located. I’ll say this, don’t stay here during the rainy season as I’m sure the roads are much worse than when dry. Overall, if you enjoy “privacy” (really seclusion), have some $$$ to spend, and want to wake up to a beautiful sunset via balcony, book it! The hotel offers free breakfast, they have good coffee and a chef on sight that prepares both a lunch and dinner for additional price (menus change daily). The water stayed hot, it was secured and staff remained accessible! We will definitely be back to see Kalokiari again! Pura Vida my friends!

The views were amazing! We woke up two mornings to 15 monkeys. They were so cute. The food was 5 stars. They have an amazing chef! The staff is so helpful and really get to know you. You feel right at home. The only thing we did not like about the area was the roads. Even with the roads being bad we would defiantly stay in this resort the next time we are in the area.

Oh, where to start??! Pacific Kalokairi provides hospitality at the very highest level. We had such a fabulous experience. The staff is wonderfully friendly. It was like having a private concierge and private chef. They took care of everything we needed, from excursions to taxis to towels and shuttles, immediately and without hesitation. The rooms are gorgeous. The breakfasts and dinners were beyond delicious. The entire experience was warm, welcoming and friendly. Not at all pretentious or precious. We felt so comfortable with everyone there. It was unlike any vacation we’d ever taken before. On our last morning we had about 7-8 howler monkeys in the trees outside our room - what a treat to see them up close, like being in a game preserve. Also, we must mention we adored being greeted by Charley, the gentle giant black lab. There’s so much love at Pacific Kalokairi- we highly recommend vacationing in Costa Rica and staying there.

This beautiful property is located in the hills above Tamarindo with an amazing view of the ocean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The guest accommodations are modern, spacious and private. We loved listening to the birds and the Howler monkeys and just enjoying the awesome view from our room. Relaxing poolside and cooling off in the infinity pool was a treat. Peaceful, quiet, elegant...Pacific Kalokairi is a sanctuary in this area. Highly recommended!

We were so lucky to land at Pacific! We were desperate to find a new place to stay at the tail end of our stay in CR. We found Pacific Kalokairi and Virginia immediately treated us as family. The units are breathtaking and you feel as if you are on an island all by yourself. This is a hidden gem we were fortunate to find!
