Hillsdale B&B in Ambleside

The range of options for breakfast was fabulous and Steve and Val were excellent hosts - friendly and very helpful. It's a great location, really central in Ambleside. Our room was lovely, the bed was really comfy and it was very quiet and peaceful even though they were fully booked. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Lovely 2 night stay at the Hillsdale. Good coms before our trip regarding points of interest and good quality local restaurants. A very warm welcome on arrival from Steve with all the information needed. There is private parking approx 250m from the guesthouse which is vital in such a busy tourist area. The room was clean, comfortable, well decorated and furnished. Excellent breakfast cooked to order from a varied menu. All in all a very good stay and we would recommend without hesitation

It was clean, great location and Steve was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Was a fantastic breakfast too.

The furnishings and decor were excellent and the whole property was very clean. The interior design was impressive. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were great. The hosts were pleasant and welcoming and the location provides easy access to Ambleside.

The parking situation was a little awkward. You have to park outside for a maximum of 1 hour and bring luggage in, obtain key for private parking a 5 minute walk away and then drive to this. The breakfast wasn’t of the same quality to what we’ve come to expect from a Cumbrian B&B. Better Sausage and the addition of Black Pudding would level it up exponentially.
