Bellwood Hills Resort & Spa

The Resort is even better than the pictures! We checked in late in the evening and had a tasty Sri Lankan dinner. The room was spacious, well furnished and had a small clean balcony. The view of the tea gardens from the balcony were beautiful. They have a large swimming pool, gym and a hot tub at the terrace area which is open 24/7. Food was good, esp. the Sri Lankan dishes. The staff was really sweet and welcoming.

The location from the Kandy lake is a little far. It's not inconvenient but definitely does add 30 minutes of hilly drive.

Location, location, location - stunning views over Kandy Hills. Clean, very quiet, chilled. Large rooms and very comfortable. Good place to destress

Very hard to get to - winding, narrow mountain roads. Isolated and maybe too quiet. Services was friendly and well meaning but soooo slow. Cuisine was below expectations.

We had a great time there! Surrounded by tea plantations with an impressive view over the valley and very good hiking opportunities, Belwood Hills is ideally located - much nicer than many overcrowded tourist places. The host is very attentive and the food is very good.

Everything! The location, although quite a way out of Kandy, was perfect for us. Tucked away in the hills with beautiful views and stillness. We chose not to visit Kandy during our stay as we felt so relaxed and rested at Bellwood Hills. Every member of staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a fabulous morning walk with Tharaka and we learned so much from him. Harsha was fabulous at making contact before our arrival, arranging transfers and anything else we needed. We were treated like royalty. The food, and restaurant views, were incredible, the waiters were so friendly and attentive. I cannot praise the hotel highly enough. We left feeling valued and rejuvenated ❤️ we will 100% return.

This isn’t a negative point but be mindful that Kandy is about 40 minutes by tuk tuk. DON’T let this put you off. Just plan your trip into Kandy mindfully, knowing you will come back to your accommodation for peace and tranquility.

The property was breathtaking. Sat on top of a mountain about a 40 minute drive out of Kandy it’s an amazing experience just getting there. Upon arrival you are greeted by the most friendly staff who make you feel right at home from the start. Standout features are the hot tub and rooftop pool, as well as the stunning view from the restaurant. I ate the prawn curry for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. The staff are very professional but also are more than happy to have conversation and have a joke if you’re anything like me. The Spa treatment was a lovely way to relax in the morning, and Havsha (the man on reception) organised everything for us for whenever we needed it. Weather it was the Spa treatment, a Tuk Tuk tour of the surrounding area with a fantastic scenic lookout, or even organising us a driver to Columbo, he did it all with zero hesitation.

There is nothing that we didn’t like about the property, which is the honest truth, we couldn’t find a bad thing about the place if we tried!
