"Private bungalow near the national park"

9.0

Our host was very kind and offered us a ride to her homestay (we had a motorbike, so didn’t end up getting one). The setting was very serene and the bungalow was great for immersing in nature with the open windows. No bugs at all in January. Shower was nice and hot, a must for me! They offer meals with a good selection of local foods. We ate breakfast there and absolutely loved the coffee! The area itself is lovely and definitely worth visiting. We explored the national park (a beautiful forest accessible by vehicle and by foot), only a 10-minute drive from the property.

The guesthouse is clean, with well-maintained rooms and basic amenities. The staff is friendly and helpful. The price is reasonable, ideal for short stays. The restaurant offers delicious and diverse dishes with rich flavors. The ambiance is comfortable, and the decor is taáteful.

"It's ok, but prepare for the cold."

7.0

The owner was really nice and gave us one of the bungalows instead of the room that we booked (I actually thought I was booking the bungalow, but turned out that no). He speaks good English too. The bungalow is spacious, beds are comfy, the bathroom is big. It's a few minutes drive from the entrance to the national park.

Honestly, it was one of the more expensive places we booked during our 3 months travel through Vietnam, and I expected a little bit more. Breakfast was super disappointing. It says on booking you can have breakfast for an additional 57k, but when I tried to explain it to the lady in the morning, she said we can only choose the things from the menu. She speaks 0 English, and communication was hard. Finally, we ordered banana pancakes, noodle soup, eggs with bread, tea, and fresh orange juice. We paid 180k for it, which is a lot for Vietnam, and we got an instant soup (literally the one that you can get for 5 cents in the supermarket), the cheapest piece of white bread with two fried egg, hot water with a liston te bag and a juice squeezed out of 1 orange (we literally saw the lady taking only 1 orange to the kitchen to make it) mixed with water. Half a glass of that amazing juice costs 35k. Pancakes were ok. I think they should really work on breakfasts. The second thing is that at least part of the year, this zone is really cold, and this was the case when we visited (december). The bungalow has many cracks and holes, the wind enters inside freely, there is no glass in the windows, and opening them meant freezing to death, so we just had to have them closed all the time, so we never had natural light inside of the hut which was depressing. There was no warm water in the shower, and generally, the whole experience was quite freezing. Come prepared with warm clothes

"Disappointed"

3.0

Location is close to the national park. Quiet place. We could have a shower before taking the night bus.

I was really disappointed about the owner. He seems nice and friendly, but actually he was quite scammy. Some of the things that happened: 1. He offered to pick us up (15 min ride), later we found out that we have to pay for this. 2. We asked him a few times about taking the public bus to the sleeper bus office in Ninh Binh, but he made it seem very difficult and was a bit vague about it. So we chose to let him drive us for 450k (1 hour). Only after we arrived we saw that the office was very close to the public bus stop, so it would actually have been quite easy to take the public bus. 3. Also, we found out at the last minute that there was another couple staying at the hotel taking the sleeper bus at exactly the same time and place. So we ended up sharing the ride with them, but the owner was planning to bring us first and them later.

"Peaceful stay in Cuc Phuong"

9.0

If you're planning to go to Cuc Phuong National Park then it's a great location - it's around a 20 minute cycle/scooter ride (it's quite steep though so a good workout) and they rent both on site - I loved the little hut I stayed in and the hammock, it's a beautiful location, the area is so peaceful and out of the way so you can really immerse yourself in the nature. The owners are also very helpful and accommodating :)

"Ideal base for Cuc Phuong park"

9.0

Excellent location close to Cuc Phuong national park. The owner spoke reasonable English. The restaurant serves dinner and breakfast. I could hire a motorbike to access the national park. Everything I needed was catered for. Rooms basic and a bit old, but comfortable and clean.
