Sanctuary Rooms

We were kept waiting outside the property for more than an hour (having previously been clear on our arrival time), despite repeatedly ringing the doorbell, and calling the phone number provided without any response. My children were hot, tired and hungry by this stage, however the staff when we were eventually let in were not even slightly apologetic. The room was a lot smaller and darker than we had anticipated, with minimal facilities, not even a bedside table. The air conditioning kept powering off - when I raised this via the messaging on Booking app (apart from arrival, I never saw another member of staff throughout our stay and the phone number was not answered), I was told this was normal however I use air conditioning at home and I know the difference between maintaining a temperature, and simply powering off an entire unit from the mains (presumably to save electricity. As a result the room was very hot and uncomfortable overnight and none of us slept well. Compounded by the double bed I was sharing with my 11 year old daughter suddenly gave way in the night. I again messaged the next day asking for a new room, as no staff were present to ask. In the afternoon I was told that I probably should get another room, but this could not be confirmed for the time being. However by 6pm this had still not been confirmed and lacking any further response (with very tired children) I could not risk another night of no sleep in a hot room and broken bed, so I was forced to book into another hotel at great expense, despite having paid for Sanctuary Room. I requested a refund, but this message was not even acknowledged let alone replied to. Avoid at all costs, this place is a total scam.

Location is good and quite easy to find.

Due to a booking error, our brief stay was marred by a poor welcome, lack of information, a totally unacceptable replacement 'bedroom' and various inconsistencies with existing photos and reviews about this accommodation. It cannot be recommended.

The room was spacious and tidy.

There were no blankets just sheets which is I think an italian thing maybe?

Proximity to centre

Very bad first impression. Front of building did not even have name of property and was piled high with rubbish

Room was a good size. Bed was comfortable. Close to stations and main street leading to Pompeii archaeological site

Paid for a hotel with a tea/coffee maker, kettle, this was not available. When I asked where the kettle etc were woman who showed us out room very rude and says no kettle. I messaged the owner who apologised there were no tea bags. Next day had 2 tea bags and 2 sugars but still no kettle, cups, milk, coffee. Spoke to woman again and after a lot of huffing gave me a kettle and 2 cups, asked for milk and coffee she said no can only have 2 tea bags for our 4 night stay. Messaged owner again this time he didn't bother answering. Wi-Fi password didn't work and woman got grumpy again because I asked for correct Wi-Fi password. Towels were very thin and shower not very clean.

The room was very comfortable, clean had lots of space and the location was ideal for the main station, 10 mins walk, the centre and local area including Pompeii ruins. A good base for our 4 days touring the area. The breakfast venue across the road was excellent. Good windows shutting out junction noise in rush hour. The email requests were responded to quickly. Mainly Italian speaking but helpful and certainly good value.

Some listed facilities were available on request.

The view was nice from the balcony.

There were no real breakfast. They gave us handwritten post-it notes and told to go to a cafe accross the street. We got a coffee and a croissant with the post-it note. The shower drain did not work correctly, you had to wait to get the shower floor to grt empty for another one to go to the shower. Otherwise it would have flooded the floor. Toilet didn't flush and we had to use trach can, fill it with water and drain the toilet by hand. There were no minibar, no snackbar, no kettle. Also no bedsidetables. We had the balcony, but the table and chairs were rusty and a broken. Also, the wooden curtain to the balcony didn't go up and we had to hunch down to get to balcony. There were no sign on the door on yhe street and we spend 15 minutes to find the right building. It was a normal apartment building, and Sanctuary Rooms were just a apartment where rooms were made to looks like hotel rooms. They asked us when we were arriving but we still had to wait almost an hour for someone to let us in. Then we had to wait for another 30 min for her to "clean" the room. Bedsheets were wrinkly and there were no toiletries. The young lady that came for us, didn't speak a single word in english. She used Google Translate to tell us about our stay, but it was all gibberish, because she didn't understand that the translator didn't get the message correctly. She also seemed annoyed of us and almost angry ehen we didn't understand the Google Translators nonsense.

Good size room and exceptionally clean and located within walking distance of the main square and ruins. Bed was comfy but the pillows weren’t great. The owner/manager was very accommodating in allowing me to check in early.

I found it fairly difficult to find the apartments as there was no information saying it was on the fourth floor and nothing downstairs on the intercom indicating where the rooms were. There was also apparently breakfast included but I couldn’t figure out where/ was never offered any breakfast.
