Claridge House Chicago, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Given downgraded room and paid for a higher grad - when I pointed this out they said check tomorrow another room may become available! dirty carpets and tiny bedroom. No management on site. AC in bedroom is so noisy, really bad layout in shower, to open door you need to get soaked in freezing water before you can get the temperature correct. Carpets are absolutely filthy. Their photos must be twenty years old.

Claridge house has a great location and pleasant staff. However our room had only one single light - a bedside lamp. That's it. To draft this review, I literally had to sit in front of a tiny closet with the door open and the bathroom door open to get enough light. Clearly a second light had been removed during a remodel. We did ask for additional light, but this could not be accomplished. In the bathroom, the towels were in a section separate from the shower - making it hard to grab a towel. Counter space was minimal and only five hangers in the closet. The room seemed designed for one person even though there were two double beds. The fitness center had only two treadmills, so that I was unable to get my morning run as both were occupied by walkers - no time limit. The coffee shop Cal's served bitter coffee and could not provide food for breakfast as staff was short - we went to Starbucks. We could hardly get our bags to the elevator as the cleaning cart totally blocked the narrow hallway. We did not get our room refresh as promised.

The location was great and the room was comfortable. The staff were very helpful.

The room had a musty smell. It was serviced every 2nd day which was fine but the water bottles were not topped up on the in between day. Parking next door was ridiculously expensive. I found a lot that charged for 3 days (with in and out) for the same price as one 24 hour, a few blocks away.

The staff was very attentive. Trevor was helpful in making out stay enjoyable.

The location was perfect for seeing the sites we wanted to go to. Great for walking in neighborhood and restaurants.
