Hampton Inn - York

They are under construction and have one elevator for the entire hotel. Also extremely rude front desk staff.

Started off not finding my reservation. In town for a wedding, so they sent me up to my brother’s room. I knew it was not my room because his name was on the TV. First clue to leave fast. The lobby was strewn with sheets of drywall but that’s ok a teddy bear in a construction helmet told me to understand they are under construction. I inhaled so much drywall dust and it’s Thursday. I have been home for three days and have not had a clear breath. Charged full freight, no discount for Hilton’s reno. Worst experience since adulting, and I am 62.

This hotel is under renovation … sadly this renovation is overdue by many, many years. Our first room was gross and the toilet kept running. According to the front desk the maintenance person was several hours away (what???). We were put into another room … equally as gross. The nasty carpet is rippled and is most definitely a fall hazard. The furniture (circa 1960) is worn, unattractive, and dirty. No luggage rack … I’m in a hotel … where should I put my luggage? On the nasty carpet? The shower head is one I haven’t seen for many many years. A vintage Waterpik design which hardly worked. The sofa in the room was thread bare and stained … EEW. And I was charged $159.00 a night. I feel very confident that some of the seedy motels I passed on the way here may have been better. Hampton Inn should be ashamed. Probably my last Hampton Inn stay … I’ll stick with Marriott. I’ve never experienced such disgusting accommodations from them. I truly wish I could include pictures with this review.

We have stayed at this hotel before and it was much better before. It is undergoing construction that is noted now on the app with a small banner...TAKE NOTE. It appeared most of the staff managing as best they can but they are apparently short-staffed. There are signs that say the construction begins at 9am but the construction noise began much earlier. The construction employees are not considerate of the guests coming in or needing to get to the elevator and they smell heavily of smoking and stand and smoke at the entrance. The breakfast selection is small and not very good. We left the hotel at 7am for business and returned at 3pm to find our room not clean. When we called the desk we were told they only do every other day unless requested. This policy was not shared with us at check in or on any signage. They did send someone at that time to clean, but it left us without the opportunity to rest before our next appointment and the housekeeper left only decaf coffees. I would not stay here again anytime in the near future.

Room is adequate; however none of the electrical outlets/USB ports worked on the bedroom lamps. Minimal place to plug in. Hairtie from previous guest on floor by bed. Under renovation.

Was not made aware in advance the hotel was under construction. Our toilet wasn’t flushed. Hair and dust all in the bathroom. We didn’t have enough toilet paper or conditioner for a single use. The carpet was damp. A construction worker was at our window. No hot breakfast.

It was fine and served it’s purpose.
