Baymont by Wyndham Monte Vista

This hotel by Wyndham is one of the best places that I have stayed in years. Very clean and the people were fantastic.

The hotel staff were amazing--friendly, helpful, and engaging. Our rooms were clean, free coffee was provided, and a great warm breakfast set up early! We got to eat before driving out to see the sand hill cranes wake up. Thank you all for making our stay free of issues!

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We did online check-in after we got our car at the airport, and it was a breeze checking in. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They always had breakfast snacks out and cookies in the evening.

The desk staff at the Baymont was very friendly and helpful during our stay, however there were a few issues that should be addressed. 1. The room fridge turns off when you turn off the light switch at the door. This makes no sense and we had a bunch of food (and our lunch plans) spoiled. 2. We were in one of the renovated rooms but there was no cold water in our sink and the beds all have metal bottoms which are weirdly loud. We accidentally kicked them several times and heard other rooms doing the same. 3. One of the coffee makers in the dining area didn’t work, but we were told they weren’t replacing it until they used up the supply of coffee pods that fit it. Again…that makes no sense. The coffee came out cold and I had to toss it anyway.

On the positive side, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. However, this hotel is obviously owned/managed by people that don't really know how to run a business. Their site says the rooms were recently renovated. I believe ours was one of those rooms. There are just a whole host of items that were done improperly or not smart. For instance...our sink only had hot water, the shower had shampoo but not soap, there was nothing to hold the soap bar on the sink so it would slip into the sink, and, most importantly, they have 2 light switches by the door. One of the switches, we found out later, controls the frig. So all of the food we brought with us for multiple days of meals was ruined because when we went to sleep we turned off the 2 switches by the door and the frig was off for a day. When I explained the issue to the first staff member she was very apologetic and said that the day before she discussed with the owner whether they should have signs so people knew about the switches. (No Duh - of course you should have a sign). The second staff member I told this to when we checked out was also apologetic. However, neither of them made any effort to make amends for the food we lost of which the cost was not insignificant.

Shower good and hot. Air control good and you can open window to air out room. Staff friendly and helpful.

The door to our room checking in was open as were a couple other doors to rooms. Highly unusual in any motel hotel. Anyone can walk in before you check into the room. Breakfast so-so. They ran out of the one breakfast meat they offered offered an hour before end and didn't replenish. The showers have only half a glass panel, no door or curtain. This gets a lot of water on the floor. The sink is in the hall, ok, but the hot and cold taps are reversed and there is no label on them and it takes a long time to get hot water in the sink so it takes a long time to figure out The bed frame is made of cheap metal so every time you hit the bed frame with your foot it makes a loud bang like a gong. The furniture is new but cheap so there are already chips and nicks in it. Beds comfortable but a bit soft.
