The Heather's Bed and Breakfast

The room was very clean and the bed was comfy. We were allowed to check in earlier than 4pm. The host kindly arranged a taxi for us to take us to the wedding we were going to and prepared takeaway breakfast to accommodate our early departure the next day.

Our host came upstairs and told my partner and me to "get in bed" at 10.30pm after arriving back from the wedding and taking a shower at 10pm saying we were too noisy. The communication style in which the host's message was delivered made us both feel very unwelcome. Before leaving for the wedding, we were previously warned "not to jump on the bed" at late hours, but we thought taking a shower would be an ok thing to do, considering our very early departure the next day. We also told the host in advance that we'll be coming back later in the evening, so we expected a bit more understanding and empathy in this regard. I'd like to think that she was just having a bad day. Nonetheless, there were a few comments during our stay that made us feel like we were an inconvenience. We won't be back and cannot wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation due to the host's poor style of communication.

Two rooms let, one has an en-suite one a’private bathroom’ unfortunately we got the private bathroom, we were told by Heather the bathroom was for “our sole use” whilst at the property. However on returning to the property during one day of our stay, our flannels had been moved, another was on the bath soap suds were in bath! We queried this with booking.com on our return home, they contacted Heather who then rang us and asked how we knew the bath had been used, when we told her what we’d found on our return she replied “hands up it was me, it’s the only bath in the house, so while you were out I had a bath, if I’d have cleaned it properly you would never have known” we reminded her she said it was for our sole use whilst we were at the house, to which she replied “ it’s my house & I wanted a bath, it’s the only bath in the house I can if I want it’s my house” how’s this a private bathroom? Misleading false advertising! How many times she’s done this. Her en-suites is on the ground floor, she went upstairs & used what we’d been led to believe was a private bathroom solely for our use during our stay instead, this is unacceptable!! On the day of departure we were finishing breakfast talking to the other couple in the dining room, 9.20 am Heather came over & said “is your room locked” we said yes, she said “ get a move on then, the cleaner will be here soon” departure isn’t until before 10am we felt completely rushed out of the house & didn’t even get chance to finish our drinks!! UPDATE Heather our Breakfast was 8.40 NOT 8am other guests witnessed you ask us to get a move on, we all left the table together, we had all be chatting, You didn’t say you needed anything , you said the cleaner was due SOON. As for you using the bathroom how does that make it “our sole use”? If you were ill then why RISK passing it by NOT CLEANING it! how were we trouble we only slept there & was out all day! 8/8 was a cold wet day!

Heather welcomed me inronher home with warmth and generosity. Providing me with a very welcome cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake, after my long journey. My bed was more comfortable than my own, at home, and the facilities were spotless.
