Quality Inn & Suites Altoona - Des Moines

It was affordable. We only needed a place to stay overnight and we left early the next morning. The pool looked small, but we didn't use it. The breakfast was humble, but we left very early.

There were no surprises. It met expectations

The breakfast was was to be ready at 6:30 am and she was still getting it ready at 6:45am and didn't open tell a little after 7. That put us behind a litte because we were counting on that meal for the day. So we waited. The eggs where cold in the center like they didn't get heated all the way through.

We never actually stayed at the property as the front desk clerk refused to give us a room. He did however check us into said room. We had to drive 17 miles at 1:30 in the morning to find a different room! The issue was lack of parking. We had a 26 foot moving truck and there were no regular parking spaces to park the truck. We asked if we could park in adjacent lots such as Taco Bell overnight without getting towed. He told us that he couldn’t guarantee we wouldn’t get towed unless we parked on their property, but he wouldn’t provide us a parking spot either! We asked to park in unconventional spots (not regularly marked parking), but were denied repeatedly. We requested he call management to get approval and he simply told us to call Choice hotels if we had a problem. Then he refused to hive us our room that was already paid. We also could not get a refund to pay for another room. Choice Hotels told us we had to deal with the property management which was clearly no help to us!!!

They were rude , had no parking, told us they wouldn’t inconvenience other guests by letting us park in an undesignated spot even though it wouldn’t have hampered access to any guests. They turned us away without a refund at 1:30 am with no other options. We had been driving for 10 hours!!! It put me in a dangerous situation!!

Price was good. Hotel was very clean. Staff was polite.

The mattress was rock hard.
