Dorchester Hotel

I went to South Beach on a wim and found this inexpensive older hotel but I was presently surprised. I booked a suite and yes its older but the room was huge, nice decor and clean. Great amenities and allowed early check in. I would honestly book again.

Please DO NOT go by the pictures on this site or by the pictures on their website. The worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Sorry but please take down these photos TripAdvisor.. There is a reason this hotel doesn't have a Facebook or Instagram. They can't take any current photos. This hotel is old. Dated. Smelly. Broken. Our experience. AC turned on but not affective as that many gaps in door way and windows. 2 lizards 🦎 crawling behind bed when we arrived. No wonder as the gaps in the door way and windows. Back door from sad attempt at a kitchen was bolted closed. H&S issue. 1 bed was broken leg. Lap shades and general decor was 20 plus years old. Concierge was taking photos of us. And bags. Made us very uncomfortable. Receptionist was nice. And not shocked when we returned to reception 45min after we checked into our room. To check out. Pool was closed. Thank god as looked soo dirty. Grind around windows were awful. The pub at front where they give you free Happy hour is absolutely nothing like the photos on the site. Sorry didn't take photos but was scared to. They give you free drink probably for a reason. The most disappointing thing is they portray to be something else on line. We checked out and went and stayed in Berkely Park Hotel around corner. Night and day .

Nice old style-feeling hotel, very quiet although centally located. Big suite, with full kitchen, pool. All what you need. Comfortable bed. For me a hidden gem.

We were very pleased with our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the location and all the amenities that were provided. We will definitely come back and stay here.

Pros: Good location and large rooms Cons: This hotel desperately needs a complete renovation. The room wasn’t clean (there was a visible pile of termites on the ground, they moved us to another room), it was dusty, the bathtubs badly stained, the bathroom door looked like someone kicked it, one of the towels had holes in it, etc. It looks like they haven’t renovated anything in 20 years. There are no usb chargers or any outlets whatsoever near the beds - something you might expect in the 1990s but not in a “3 star hotel” in 2024. The walls are thin and I had to bang the wall a few times to get someone to stop loudly talking on the phone at 1am preventing us from sleeping. Just a very tacky place that was probably much better a long time ago. We had booked a king bed and they gave us two doubles - apparently the bed situation is subject to availability once you arrive. Not the best situation for an anniversary weekend.

Negative. At check in I had a prepaid voucher. The receptionist was trying to get me to pay again for the full stay. She called the manger who sorted it. Not good after a 9 hour flight Positives. After reading the bad reviews I was dreading staying her but I’d stay again. Rooms are huge ok slightly dated but clean. Great location. Also we had use of Marseilles Beach club. Free sun beds and umbrella on beach. Loved it! For anyone like myself who read the bad reviews ignore you’ll love it here.

the receptionist Ms. Carolin was very nice and helpful. I will come back to this hotel many times and will never stay in any other hotel except this one.

Our bathroom tub was not draining. The shower was horrible water would stop many times

Bad hospitality. Front desk does not know what they are doing. The valley person comes to help at the front desk on check in. Nobody really comes to help with luggage when requested. The hotel does not have an elevator that you can use to go to all floors. (I stayed in room 265) The WiFi signal is very bad. The room 265 looks very old and tacky.

Great location on South Beach ⛱️. Nice people. Hotel and the apartments have a old smell to them which is hard to ignore. Apartment was spacious and had more than we needed. Kitchen, living room, family room and master bedroom. The bed was definitely old. TV sucked. Only a few analog channels. We were charged an additional 35$ for resort fees for access to beach across the street. Supposed to get complementary chairs e lumbrellas.We heading there now. Overall the price was fair especially for this time of year and perfect of you're on a budget. Thanks
