Dorchester Hotel

Hotel was in the perfect location - close to beach, restaurants, & shopping. The restaurant had awesome Cuban food and our server was excellent - ate there two nights. All staff were friendly and had a great atmosphere.

The Dorchester is a 'tired' property. However, the rooms (mini efficiencies) are very spacious. Lot of areas to move without feeling crowded like smaller hotel rooms. WARNING; there are no elevators to the wing where most guests are staying. So if you have heavy luggage then prepare to horse the suitcases if you're on the second (top) floor, Beds hard, lots of pillows. The bar and restaurant downstairs makes very good drinks. The restaurant food is farely good. Get there early enough to have their housemade empenadas. Worth it.

Love the atmosphere

This was an absolute disastrous experience. DO NOT GO HERE. They refused to put my daughter and I in the main hotel, and instead put us in a courtyard (we felt very unsafe) in the back of the hotel. The room was old, smelled, DID NOT HAVE A CHAIN LOCK on the door making it possible for anyone to kick the door in. The shower was unusable because it had a window with no privacy blinds or shades. There were rooms very closely across from us which had two floors. We were in the ground floor which made anyone from the second floor across from us able to see us through our bathroom window naked taking a shower. So we could not shower because of this. DON’T STAY HERE. When we told and complained to the front desk, they said they would take care of it, but never did. The next morning when we asked where we could get breakfast not knowing where we were, the clerk said she didn’t know any places. When we checked in, it was getting dark. We knew the beach was a block away, but never knew that there were hundreds of hotels, restaurants, glamorous bistros across from the beach. We found this out on a TripAdvisor Tour later in the day when they passed the Dorchester and went up to Ocean Avenue

Staff was ok, never too interested in helping out with any of the questions I had (where to eat, where could I go to work after check-out), hotel is beautiful but very poorly maintained.

I’ve read previous negative reviews and that’s unfortunate. My daughter, nephew and I had a very good experience and our penthouse room was very pleasing. Everything was new and clean, the staff was very courteous and respectful. My favorite part was the location. EVERYTHING from shopping to the beach to the restaurants was all in walking distance. I’m planning a girls trip for the spring and absolutely will be staying again. If I had a con, it would be that they should offer a free continental breakfast. Even that really wasn’t an issue.
