Overall Experience: It was okay. Would I stay again: No. This hotel was not for me. Front desk staff: Courteous. Luggage Rack: None Restuarant: None Bar: None Breakfast: Yes. Nicely presented. Breakfast dining area: Very Nice. Historic Feel: Yes Noise Level: Quiet Swimming Pool: Yes. Did not use. Parking Garage: Horrible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - 7' clearance. I mention this because I do have a 3" lift on my truck, so clearences are important to me. - location of card reader to scan card - lower left. Very poor placement for people in any type of truck and/or possibly even an SUV. - the fact that you have to hold the key card completely flat against the reader makes this a very uncomfortable, non-effecient process. It should be corrected. - the entrance is extremely tight and thus you are in a full size vehicle like a full size truck and/or a full size SUV you may have to stop just before, get out and scan your card and then get back in vehicle hoping the gate does not lower on your vehicle. - the fact that I had to get out of my truck to scan the card to get into the garage, makes it also an extremely unsafe experience as well. Room: Clean. Definitely had historic configuration. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - low ceilings. - uneven floors, especially going into the bathroom. I tripped going into the bathroom the first time. Be sure to pick up your feet. - bed was comfortable - pillows awful - good amount of recipticles to plug in things - TV was awful - a lot of the channels did not work reducing the amount channels to view. Bathroom: Clean -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Towel Hook: One. - Slip Mat: None --- I always review bathrooms for this as most of the times hotels are couples. By not providing multiple towel hooks is always important for hotels because planning for couples allows for a good stay for single person stays and couples. This is thumbs down. --- extremely low ceilings. I am below 6' tall and could easily touch the ceilings. If you are 6'5 or taller, you will be bending to stand up there, especially in the shower. - shower is in an extremely SMALL bath tub. - shower pressure: okay, but no room to mover around, so made it hard to wash hair. - Toilet --- placement: good --- low - very low - fall down on to. It would be nice to see toilets become the standard which is chair height and not for little kids. --- bad smell coming from sink - --- nats flying around the sink

I say this as someone who has a home in a tropical climate: fabrics must must be replaced and thoroughly clean more than any other climate. My room smelled like a wet dog which means mildew and mold. It was so gross and beyond Febreeze or Lysol on fabric. If you have an allergies or sensitivity DO NOT stay here. All the carpet should be replaced with laminate wood, all curtains replaced. All furniture recovered. The downstairs has hardwood and it’s a lovely space. They have a pretty outside with lots of seating. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff was kind. But this location needs a major overhaul. This should have been $120 a night for the value.

It was across the street from the Tourist Center where you can catch the free buses around the area.

Everything was fine, but I do hate paying so much for parking.

Perfect location and parking was easy with the lot right next door. We had a AAA discount for the parking which hotel applied. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly explaining the free tourist buses. Easy access to King Street with choice of shops and restaurants. This was a return visit to see specific sites and so already familiar with Charleston overall. Room was clean and comfortable but hotel could use an update as an older building, no refrigerator in the room to keep our water bottles cold, so it was using the ice bucket. Bathroom still has tub to climb over for the shower. Typical Hampton Inn breakfast and that was fine. Coffee was good.
