Sapa Dao Homestay

We didn't stay long enough to enjoy anything.

On arrival we discovered our room was occupied by relatives of the owner and the alternative which we were offered was terrible so we left.

I was the only guest, the family was not there. Only a woman from the restaurant next door. . She was nice but communication was only with google translate possible. So no homestay feeling. Price is too high for the basic standard of the room and the old building.

Although it is situated a few km out of town, we spent more money on transportation than expected. The view was beautiful but we only saw it for a moment and then fog settled in for the remaining days. Heating blanket was appreciated.

It was noisy. Other guests sounded like they were right in our room.

Mr Dao was a great host! Very friendly and his Homestay was lovely. There were great mountain view’s from the restaurant and basically 360 mountains views from the dorm. He was always ready to help with anything - he even helped us book trips after we checked out and moved into another hotel. We also paid a bit extra to have food with Mr Dao and it was delicious. Me and my 7 friends had a great time.

The food cooked by the host's sister was very delicious. Menu had English translation so it was easy to order. The big bed was clean and comfy, and the blanket was thick enough to keep warm throughout the cold night. The view from the homestay is great when the sky is clear and sun is out. The host was very friendly and helpful. He is currently working in Sapa hence he is not always around the homestay but he tries to be around to greet guests whenever possible.

I was disappointed by the current room condition as the photos on Booking.com did not match. I was given the Triple room even though I booked the Double room. The single bed had stains on the sheets and the toilet water heater didn't really work, only had lukewarm water. Which was really hard to bathe in since the room gets really cold at night. The towels were also really dirty. I hope with some renovations and cleaning it would be a much better homestay as the location is really good.

The host Dao and his family are so hospitable and efficient. I had no trouble organising buses and tours. The home cooking was delicious. I enjoyed Karaoke with the sister. The mountain and valley view from my room was magnificent.

The location for its stunning views to rice terraces. Also, the area is really quiet.

Some more cleanliness wouldn't do any wrong, specially the bathroom.

A beautiful location, amazing view from our room. A deck as well to sit out on overlooking the mountains and tea fields. Dinner with the family was lovely, delicious and very welcoming. Breakfast included too either pho or pancake. The host was very friendly and welcoming.

We came in off season and they were doing renovations so there was loud construction noise most of the time, early morning too. The bed was very hard, I found it difficult and uncomfortable to sleep, and the bed sheets were synthetic satin which caused overheating and sweating.
