"Be prepared for a noisy pub environment!"

5.0

Clean room and bathroom. Not too hot to sleep. Comfortable furnishings. Good coffee. Good choice of tea/coffee etc. in the room. Comfortable bed and good shower.

Excessive noise until 1:30 a.m. due to thin old floors (can hear every word of people’s loud conversations directly underneath), drunken people outside and cars being raced past in the early hours with girls screaming encouragement. Breakfast needs to be extended by an hour to reflect lack of sleep. It’s a very popular pub and there are no quiet nights. Stood for ages at bar waiting for staff to check me in; they were serving people at the bar. Breakfast poorer than last time and particularly the Continental - no plain croissants; all high sugar pastries. Sausages peelie wallie and mushrooms too peppery. No plant milk available but was allowed to provide my own. I have used this hotel twice but after the noise level this time and the poorer quality of breakfast, will book elsewhere. It’s really difficult to use the Greene King website to book - breakfast shows as not included but no mention that breakfast is available at this venue and cannot choose a preferred room furthest from the bar. No communication about questions re: milk except that my request had been approved, but which one? As it’s an old building, narrow stairs if you are carrying luggage.

"Overnight Stay"

6.0

Staff were friendly. It was quiet.

Room was very dusty the glasses in the room i couldnt use because of the dust. The TV keeps telling you what station you switch to and the volume level your on, quite annoying. The bathroom could do with a toilet brush.

Very friendly, attentive staff, especially Rhys. Pub food good value for money. Comfortable bed, clean shower. Lovely 17th century building.

Very noisy in bedrooms (as pub below gets very packed and plays loud music), but fine after midnight.
