Hotel Kastoria in Kastoria City

The situation of our room was perfect, with a view over the lake with its fascinating bird life - particularly the activities of a community of pelicans. The room was very clean, quiet and relatively spacious. The service was considerate without ever being intrusive. And the breakfast was excellent - offering a wide range of well prepared and presented dishes. The hotel has a lake-side bar which offers close-ups of a community of birds: pelicans, swans, ducks, a heron - and virtuoso deep-diving grebes?, My wife and I - having travelled together for fifty years - cannot think of a more beautiful hotel setting. And the hotel is the starting point of an enchanting 10 kilometre walk around the lake.

The hotel has a good position, near the lake, but that's all. The room was small and with a smell of cigaretes. Breakfast was ok. But anyway, who's staying inside during vacation? When you go walking, it will be far from city center. There are shortcuts, but you must have strong feets. Streets are paved with big stones.

Having stay at the Kastoria hotel in the past, I've enjoyed the great lake room view with a fabulous sunset. This time the room was larger (203), but the bathroom was relatively small, with a leaking shower hose and toilet broker flasher. In addition the room was cold with the only heating device one central air vent, who was trying to cope with excessive noise. It seems that the hotel lacks proper management to offer more than its location promises. Price was fair though at 55€ per night including breakfast.
