DoubleTree by Hilton Rocky Mount

The hotel is near a restaurant.

When I arrived there was a man at the front desk who told me the receptionist stepped away that she would be back shortly. I waited for 10 minutes to be checked in, he just stood there, didn't say two words to me. We traveled for 7 hours by car. We use the hotel as a stop on our way to Charleston. I don't know that I will use again.

Not Having the suiteroom that I made reservation for . It’s was giving to another guest that didn’t needed it And suite 328 Mr Fuller and others guests that I made reservation for had better choices and rooms and I really need the suite for business . This is the 3rd time I didn’t get what I as for.

It was an a great area, only 7 minutes from Major stores and restaurants if needed

The booking advertised heated pool and continental breakfast and the pool was not available nor continental breakfast, considering we traveled with children this is the main reasons we chose to stay there the night since we were traveling back from Florida. We also paid extra for the breakfast and pool

Overall stay was good, staff was customer friendly. However, this is an older hotel, which is usually not a major problem with me. The hotel needed fresh paint in the room we were in. # 442. There are two severely stained couches in the lobby around a Christmas tree that are in desperate need of cleaning or being replaced. Room rates were higher due to holidays I guess, which make it more frustrating to have to pay the additional cost.

Great place. Just a suggestion to clean/remove or buy a new couch for the lobby. Very stained and dirty in such a beautiful common area. There were only two bath towels in a room that fit three. There was no blanket available for the pullout couch in the bag supplied that had not been refreshed . Planning ahead when you have groups coming in is important!

Greetings. The staff were very nice and professional. Always courteous during interactions and willing to offer assistance without us asking. The lobby area had cloth furniture that was dirty or stained. Really should upgrade to better quality durable furniture. The amenities were okay the gym was clean and the equipment was enough to get a good workout. Parking was adequate and well lit at night. My room needs serious upgrades. The heat worked so that was a plus. The bathroom is where most of the upgrades need to materialize. The exhaust fan didn’t work so when you showered there was condensation on the ceiling that dripped on everything. Wallpaper was peeling between the tub and toilet. It was hard to keep the water from running all over the floor when taking showers. The chair at the desk was cracked at the seams and there was something sticky underneath which I cleaned myself. Also, the morning of checkout we didn’t have hot water. The refrigerator was in a cabinet that was broken because every time you opened the refrigerator it would slide forward and tilt to the floor. If I were DoubleTree I would upgrade all the rooms especially the bathrooms, remove the tubs and redo the showers. The chairs in the room should be inspected and replaced. The carpet needs a good cleaning as well.
