Room was great, nice and spacious. My only complaint is the elevator in my building was not working and we were on level 3 and one of the nights my key stopped working. Not fun. Enjoyed the smores kits and goats.

The room was spacious and comfortable with a small kitchenette. Some of the wood furniture was a bit worn but very clean. Enjoyed the whirlpool tub! The Lazy Goat restaurant was excellent with live music. Did not get to enjoy the spa as they never returned my call requesting an appointment. This was disappointing, but overall I would highly recommend it as a good value.

Essex is a totally charming experience, beautiful rooms in a paradise of color. Be sure to take the time to walk the grounds to see trees and plant life that one usually finds on postcards. Also, be sure to go behind the Main Building to pet the goats, Stuart and Penelope.

From the moment we drove onto the property, I had a wonderful stay. The front desk staff were amazingly helpful. My room was gorgeous and comfortable. Walking on the grounds and neighborhood to visit the goats was a peaceful experience. I hope to return someday.

Visually the resort is stunning, the grounds are beautiful, the attention to detail remarkable and the pool/spa area is amazing. The food in The Lazy Goat was really good especially the Maple Rosemary Chicken Wings. However, the elevator in our building (The Mansion) was broken, we were on the second floor and they did offer to help with our bags. The ice machine was also out of commision and the lobby door needed a little TLC to spruce up the area. It's a little odd that there is no dedicated reception area, I wasn't sure where to go to check in then realised check in is at the same counter as the coffee and pastries. Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to relax and rejuvinate.
