Great location

Great location by the university, 2 blocks from lake front, one block from state street. Ambience is cute, cafe in lobby and bar restaurant at top. Destination fee of $15 plus valet of $34 and other taxes added to the price significantly. Convenient location for dogs, as close to lake and lake front trail. Overall,, happy with stay.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The bed in our first room was not comfortable and the hotel was accommodating and moved us to a new room. The bed in the new room was more comfortable. Easy walking distance to The terrace, restaurants, campus and the capital.

Great location, friendly staff, cute decor

We have stayed at other Graduate Hotel locations that were very nice (ex: East Lansing). I hate to say it, but this one felt like “lipstick on a pig.” Yes, the decorating is gorgeous, but it is located in a very old building that must have allowed smoking for many, many years. You can smell the smoke in the lobby, in the elevators, in the hallways, and especially in the rooms. I was hoping we would get used to it, but nobody slept well (as we tried to sleep with covers over our heads to avoid the smell). In addition, the bathrooms are tiny and in desperate need of renovation. The shower is tiny and felt like the bathroom on an airplane (where you desperately try to avoid touching the walls), the sink was tiny (no counter space), and the shower pan and tile were dirty/stained. There was a dirty/moldy ceiling fan above the shower (see photos). Finally, this is the only hotel I have ever stayed at (in my entire life) that did not have a security latch on the door.

The hotel was cozy and stylish. I loved the decor. Their staff were all very kind and pleasant.

The room was nice and quiet. The air conditioning worked very well. The decor is fun. The bedding was new and comfy. The shower and sink need a facelift. The caulking needs a refresh.

Fun upbeat decor, excellent knowledgeable staff. Fun rooftop patio!

A little quirky place with a nice vibe. It’s not a luxury hotel but comfortable enough for a brief stay and in a good location foe exploring Madison.
