Everything was great, from the location to the design to the facilities to the staff. I liked the walk from the Dar to Ez Zitouna Moschee even more than the blue city Sidi Bou Said! The Dar rooftop is great for views and has ample lounging space. The staff is very kind and helpful.

Pretty Heating was on which is welcomed arriving on the cold evening ! Slept well thanks The egg breakfast is great if only there’s more savoury and less sweet stuff which we don’t tend to eat that’ll be even more fabulous

The way walking to it isn’t the nicest but the property itself presents itself so well you quickly forget the unkempt outside streets

Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

Roads in the vicinity are very narrow, but that's understandable as the location is near the Medina

I really liked this place. I wanted to stay in the historical place in the heart of Tunisian Medina, that's why I booked this hotel. Everything was amazing. I fell in love with interior, food and hospitality of staff. And I'd like to say thank a guy Youssef (I hope I wrote his name correctly), he helps with serving a breakfast and organize food workshops. He's the only person who spoke English really well and I could ask for help in English. It's really crucial as I don't speak French, so only Youssef helped to cope with everything. And I would like to mention the cleanliness, the room was very clean and cosy. Dar Ben Gacem is highly recommended!

I had one problem. My flight was delayed and I arrived later than I expected. it was about 1am. It was dark, I didn't find this hotel right away, I called the reception but no one answered. A local guy from a shop nearby helped me find the hotel and when I checked in, tired after a long flight, the receptionist told me that it was night time and it couldn't be check-in time, although I had booked 2 nights from Friday to Saturday (13th of December) and Saturday to Sunday (14th of December). I arrived on Friday night, which was the time of my booking. If checking in at night is not possible at all, this should be considered in the hotel description.

The building is beautiful and view is excellent. Lots of outdoor possibilities that can be more useful in good weather. Location is good although difficult for cars to access.

We as a couple stayed two nights at this hotel in December, and unfortunately, my experience was far below expectations, particularly for a 5-star establishment. Room Assignment & Staff Response: Despite requesting a quiet room due to sleeping problems, I was placed in an extremely noisy room facing the main road with constant tourist activity until midnight. The room was not soundproof, making it impossible to rest. When I raised this issue, I was met with an unprofessional and disrespectful response from staff, incorrectly claiming that I had booked a junior suite instead of the Deluxe suite I had actually reserved. Even if my booking had been different, such a dismissive tone is entirely inappropriate. Air Conditioning: On a cold night, the air conditioning system failed to work, leaving us freezing. It was only after we informed the staff in the morning that the issue was checked and resolved—far too late for a 5-star hotel standard. Cleanliness: Discovering three cockroaches in the bathroom was unacceptable. Such issues raise serious concerns about hygiene and sanitation practices in the hotel. Amenities: The lack of basic amenities like a coffee machine or water boiler in the room is disappointing. Requiring guests to order everything at inflated prices is both inconvenient and unwelcoming. Food: The breakfast quality was average at best, far below what is expected from a luxury hotel. Additionally, the prices for other meals were significantly overpriced, as reflected in reviews of the hotel restaurant. Transportation Issues: The hotel's location posed accessibility challenges. Many Bolt taxis refused to navigate the narrow streets or approach the hotel due to blocked routes. Additionally, the taxi service arranged by the hotel to the airport charged an exorbitant 80 TD—almost four times the rate of a Bolt taxi (22 TD). When we mentioned our limited cash, the driver displayed frustration and hostility, further souring our departure experience.
