The shuttle into old town was a nice feature as was the free parking and the shuttle to and from the airport. Cleaning staff did a good job servicing our room daily. Location to the beach was excellent. Cookie and popsicle service was a nice touch but they did run out on some days.

The waitstaff at the restaurant was very good but the kitchen was understaffed - or at least that is what I think it was. Wait times for meals could be long and at least one of our meals had to be sent back because it was inedible and not even the correct order (and we aren’t overly picky). The morning coffee service was good but somewhat inconsistent. One day the coffee was very watered down and another day they were struggling to keep them filled. They also had to put out mismatching cups and lids one day. Not a huge deal but made it hard for people coming down to get coffee to bring back to their rooms. The lunch and dinner menu is the same and somewhat limited so if you are staying at the hotel for longer than 2 or 3 days the menu gets boring. There aren’t alot of other food options within walking distance so having a wider selection of menu items or maybe a few added specials would have been nice. If you rent a car then it might be less of an issue because you can drive to restaurants or the grocery store. We did get delivery to the hotel at least once. The property itself was nice and clean. Some of the areas are starting to look dated but nothing looked run down. The overall size of the property is small and they do a good job with the landscaping. The front desk staff was pleasant enough but didn’t really go above and beyond. There were a few kitchen items I needed (paper plates, plastic utensils) and they sent me back to the restaurant which was already struggling to keep up - kitchen staff and waitstaff were both shorthanded and I didn’t want to wait 15 minutes to get a disposable plate. It may be worthwhile keeping a stash of plates and utensils at the front desk. Another time I asked about seating at the restaurant for breakfast and they sent me to the hostess which I knew wasn’t there because I just came from the restaurant and they were short staffed and no hostess.

Fun place to stay! We wanted a hotel that offered more than a hotel room. We are a family of four and we appreciate a living room and kitchen when we are staying for a week on vacation. Margaritaville was a great option for us. We loved the free shuttle to town - which we took every day! We also loved the pool and pool bar! It was a great place to relax in between activities. The drinks and food were delicious! And the iguanas were fun!

Spent a week here for our family of 4 with school aged children over Christmas. The suites are in worse condition than they appear in photos. We overheard another guest comment that this was an old Sheraton Suites before Margaritaville purchased and renovated haphazardly and it showed. Our suite had a child’s graffiti on the wall hidden by curtains, the soap dispenser tip fell off on day 2. Shower had little water pressure and there is not enough storage space in a one bedroom suite for our clothes so we kept them in our suitcases. The microwave and fridge were helpful in the micro kitchenette but no utensils or cookware provided. It felt like everything was done with the bare minimum in mind. The hotel ran out of pillows our first night there so our children did not have a pillow for the pull out couch (which the mattress was filthy btw, we reported it but the hotel did nothing about it). We used two layers of bedsheets to cover the dirty mattress so the kids could sleep. The biggest negative is actually its location. We used the hotel as our base to explore the island, knowing that we could leverage the hotel shuttle to get into old town. However in practice, we felt really stranded to the hotel amenities unless we rented a car, because there is not even a convenient store within walking distance to the hotel. We were completely dependent on the hourly shuttle to even get to a CVS! Or there was Uber Eats. Please beware of this reality when you’re considering where to stay with kids. Unless you plan to stay at the hotel 100% of the time with only its food and drinks available, plan to stay elsewhere. Now onto the positives - the Smathers Beach across the street saved our “beach experience” on this trip as Fort Zack Taylor’s natural beach was awful and full of pine needles covering half of the walkable beach. There was no water sports either. But Smathers Beach more than made up for our kids with smooth sandy beaches, calm clear waters and they spent the day paddle boarding and kayaking. We also rented a tube for them to float around the shoreline. It was the perfect Florida beach. It’s literally across the street from the hotel, and the Sunset Sports rental was cheap and friendly.
