"Perfect stay!"

Perfect stay: excellent location with an easy walk of many restaurants and shops. Friendly, helpful staff, especially the evening valet and the two folks at the reception desk. Room was immaculate with everything we needed and more. We were surprised by a glass of bubbly on arrival and a bag of local popcorn on departure. Would definitely stay again!

Excellent for downtown experiences with spacious rooms, friendly service and front desk was very accommodating and pleasant ! Valet service was wonderful and so speedy! Will come again and tell our friends!

Always enjoy the stay, have been here many times. Usually, the staff is super helpful.

On the last stay me and my wife wanted to extend our stay by one night. Unfortunately, we couldn't find it on booking.com. So, I asked Amber the manager on duty if she could help me with keeping the same room at the price from the night before. Now given this is during the beginning of the week, and was a slow period. But Amber wasn't even trying to hear me out and said she couldn't help me. I asked for a manager and she rudely told me that she was the manager. At that point me and my wife decided we didn't want to give them anymore of our hard earned money. We stay at this location and their other hotel, The Cambria in downtown Asheville. I wish I had got to speak with the other manager because she is very helpful and understanding. My recommendation is to make Yim the manager in her spot. He is amazing!!!

"Horribly rude at check in"

While the room and stay itself was okay, I was left highly disturbed at our check in experience. We arrived at around 4:15 on April 10th. My dad had booked this trip and was no longer able to use it. My mom helped him get the trip changed into my name with the company he booked it through and was assured there would be no trouble checking in. Well immediately there was trouble checking in and I was given a terrible attitude from the employee working at Haywood Park Hotel. He was immediately hostile telling me I would not be able to check into the room without my dad’s ID. I explained the situation and got my mom on the phone. He was dismissive and said there were no records of the name change on the room. I asked for him to speak with my mom he said no, that he needed to speak with my dad since the reservation was in his name. I tell my mom, he won’t talk to you he wants to talk to dad. We hang up and I call my dad and while I am calling him the employee tells me “I didn’t say I wouldn’t talk to her”.. he literally said no when I tried to give him the phone? My dad doesn’t answer I call my mom back as suddenly the employee is willing to talk to her. His tone entirely changes with her and he tells her he will check me in no problem. Ok, cool. We preferred to use my girlfriend’s card and since he didn’t specify I gave him the debit card in her name. He quickly gave it back stating “you can’t use a card that is not in your name”. I said, “even if we have her ID?”. He was so rude about “you can’t use someone else’s card” like we were stupid. I said I don’t understand, if the reservation is in my name now, why wouldn’t we be able to use her card and ID. He says “oh, that’s her card and ID?”…. just wow. Why would I have someone else’s card and ID? I immediately was treated like a criminal when I walked in the door because I am younger and because of my appearance. His accusation of me having someone’s card and ID who wasn’t even present further confirmed that. Later I even noticed they were offering free champagne at check in, and carts to help with your bags to every other guest. They watched us struggle to the elevators with our multiple bags and cooler at check in, and not a word regarding the room, amenities, wifi, fee champagne, etc. After our interaction he gave me a paper to sign, room keys, and pointed us to the elevators. No apologies, and not even the bare minimum service being offered to other paying guests. He acted like we were an inconvenience to him the entire time. Incredibly disappointing experience! I do want to be clear the individual checking us in was the only problem we had during our stay, but because of this I will be sure to never return or recommend this establishment. I understand that mistakes happen but his awful attitude towards us left us deeply disturbed.
