Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel

Stayed for a few nights in August with daughter and two young grandsons in a family room. Refurbished and spacious room. The first morning 2 year old grandson locked himself in the bathroom - the thumbscrew lock on the bedroom side of the door was broken. It took the person sent to the room well over 20 minutes to release a very upset and frightened boy. The two panel hinged shower screen on the bath did not move which involved climbing into the bath to put the plug in. Having emailed the hotel after our stay to say that for the first time I was disappointed the Assistant Front Office Manager sent an apologetic reply but unfortunately did not reply to the email I sent her a week later stating that on receipt of my credit card statement the hotel had charged me twice. Out of office reply said that she would reply on her return in two days - I am still waiting over three weeks later. I then sent by recorded delivery a letter to the Hotel Manager who was away but I received an email response from the Operations Manager who said he would follow up when he received confirmation from the credit card company - I am still waiting two weeks later. I had to contact Marriott Bonvoy for missing points and elite nights as not received after our stay in the normal way. Not up to the usual Marriott standard. Perhaps time for my next Bournemouth visit with husband to try the Nici (the refurbished Savoy Hotel) which has a spa and indoor pool lacking at the Highcliff since late 2019.

The cottages needs modernizing and carpet change to wood if it’s for dogs. Manager insists they were upfront with dog charges, so….

We had a superior sea view room which was large with a great view. It was clean and comfortable. The only aspect which we didn't like was the parking which was challenging but the staff were accommodating. Great stay.

Location is great but very disappointed with the hotel. Breakfast food was cold and as far as far as I could see no means of keeping it warm The function bar ( Dorchester) was woeful , they did not not have lime juice, did not have Proseco or Brandy or soda water.Surely knowing there would 100 + people dining they should ensure the bar was well stocked!

We were disappointed by the hotel. It’s not particularly warm and inviting. We booked a suite so we would have a good base in the event of poor weather. The suite was large but had no drawer space for clothes. It was not a welcoming space. We enjoyed breakfast and found staff to be friendly. We also enjoyed evening meals in Brasserie Blanc and the Thai restaurant next door. We left a day early despite the loss of money.

Poor service with staff more interested in messaging friends and chatting on their phones than helping guests. Rooms ok, parking a real pain.

This is one of the nicest places i've stayed in the UK! The staff were so helpful, small car park but we managed to get in!They also let us choose which too we wanted!

We stayed at this hotel to go to a concert at The BIC, with another couple. We selected it based on the fact my husband is a Gold Elite Marriott Bonvoy member and also for location. We had no double parking the car on arrival, there were plenty of spaces available. At check-in, both rooms had been upgraded to a sea view. They were spacious clean and tidy with bathroom amenities…although there were no toothbrushes/toothpaste in the room, which we were expecting. My husband also said the shower was not powerful enough, in his opinion. During our stay our friend had a fall and hurt his face. The hotel were very attentive and continued to check in on him afterwards which was noted and very much appreciated. We did eat one evening at Brasserie Blanc and enjoyed the steak night..the food was good. The bar was a bit hit and miss sometimes with service, particularly later on in the evenings where staff were sometimes absent for longer periods of time. There didn’t seem to be consistency over the two nights we stayed..the first night were were permitted to stay much later than the second, where the bar seemed to shut earlier and we were moved on. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to other travellers. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you ☺️
