Courtyard by Marriott Riverfront New Bern

Beautiful location and everything you need in a hotel for a business trip. Great gazebo down on the river and a pool to enjoy the view. Very convenient location for exploring New Bern. A great place to stay while you’re in town for pleasure or business.

Front desk lady when checking in was very helpful. Bartender was more worried about informing everyone when food stopped being served and when the bar closes then quickly serving them. Took me 15 minutes to get a drink. She was very pleasant, but could use some Bar/hospitality training. Drink was good, got wings they were good, just a tad salty, my wife got the quinoa salad and she loved it. Draft beer was not working and they had no cold glasses for bottled beer. Which probably means they do not have them for draft either. Hotel was clean, well kept and in neat location on the river. Pool and poll area was nice and had great view. Room was comfortable, clean and inviting. Saw a water bug in bathroom, but overall cleanliness was good. Staff I encountered during my stay were very polite and accommodating

Billing got screwed up between Booking.com and then they tried to bill me again upon checkout. If I wouldn’t have asked for a receipt upon checkout I wouldn’t have caught this

Breakfast consisted of pre-made items that were then microwaved. Our Breakfast sandwiches were microwaved to the point they were hard and could not be separated to add the avocado and arugula. Not good at all.

Hotel and room looked and smelled dated. Room had blood or booger smears by bedside light switch / cell plug. Didn't notice it until we turned in. Photo'd and told front desk and cleaning service in morning who said they would take care of it.

This hotel has a great view and is right in the middle of downtown New Bern. Parking is ample, the rooms are larger than most Courtyards and it has a nice bar/restaurant area. The hotel is in need of a remodel...but knowing Marriott that is probably already in the works. Would stay here again.
