Desirè Charming House Boat

Our stay on Desirè was a total highlight for all of us. The location is unbeatable and so close to the centre of Palermo and there are spotless toilets and showers in the Marina building, a 1 minute walk away from the boat. Martina and Diego supplied us with some drinks and snacks and we found the boat had everything we needed. The kitchen allows of the preparation of simple meals, but there are fantastic restaurants in the Marina and a short stroll away in town. The Marina also has a small deli shop where you can pick up sandwiches, water and wine. Access to the jetty where the boat is located is secured by a gate with a code, so it felt very safe. Thank you for having us!

Parking closeby can be an issue as is often the case in Italian cities, but Martina was very helpful and directed us so we could unload the bags and gave us plenty of information on parking before we arrived.

The host surprised us by leaving on the outdoor table a delicious Sicilian breakfast, that we enjoyed with the view of the harbour.

If your put of by the prospect of staying on a boat then dont be. The whole experience was a delight. The host was lovely, she arranged to meet us in the car park just a hundred yards away. Walked us through the marina to the boat and showed us the ropes. I'll be honest, we were worried about security and potential rocking or noises at night with ropes or bells etc, but I can say that we had no issue at all. the water was very calm and despite being in a marina you felt very private and very safe. The main bedroom was comfortable and more spacious that expected. And you couldn't beat sitting having breakfast or an evening drink on the deck watching the world go by. And all a short walk from the main tourist area in Palermo.

If anything the bathroom facilities were a little cramped. If your a large build it may be a bit difficult, but I'm in that category and I managed. Its was an experience. If needed more spacious facilities were close by in the Marina Offices which were also free to use. Hey its a boat! The pros far outweighed the cons.

It was lovely to not be cooped up in a small hotel room. We could sit outside every night and enjoy the peace of the harbour. If you are adventurous and active then boat life could be for you.

We loved the property, the bed was firm so if you like soft and bouncy with large spacious bathrooms, this place is not for you.

I've never been on a boat like this before, it's an interesting and good experience. There is everything you need. Compared to the city itself, the boat is pretty quiet.

THe boat is a deightful place to stay in Palermo. We loved the location, which is very central to all the main sites, restaurants, and easy walking to a supermarket or to the traditional markets. Our host, Fiammetta, was very helpful and kind throughout our stay. Providing gorgeous breakfast pastries and also being on hand with advice. The two toilets and the shower were very good and suited our needs for our stay. The boat is really well located, comfortable and a great place to chill on the deck during your stay. We would stay here again in a heart beat.
